Re: Pop popcorn not fireworks

They've banned fireworks in our community and several communities surrounding us but still we've got a few idiots who set them off.  The marina in our neighborhood has decided this year to have a community drone show instead of fireworks.  I'm happy to see that.  At least it stops the Sound from filling up with the debris of all of the fireworks.

My animals have never been frightened by the sound of fireworks thankfully, but I could see how it used to scare the birds and squirrels that live around our yard.

I never had a big interest in fireworks even as a child.  We only had sparklers and snakes.  Which were not very expensive.  Even as a kid, I always thought it was silly to spend money just to see it go up in smoke.

You are absolutely Right! My dog was terrified of fireworks until he lost a lot of his hearing. He is now 14. I never left the house on the 4th for this reason. So many animals are scared to death of these things! Birds die from fear. There is no need to be blowing these things off.

I agree. But did you know that many of the wild animals like squirrels and birds have died of fear over firework noise. All animals are scared. I htae the fireworks for this reason. People can be so selfish.

We could add air pollution to this list.  What with the smoke from wildfires, I don't see the need to add to it.

Fireworks are a fire hazard. We live rural and the grass on the hills is tall and now dry. Town folks even come out here to set off their illegal fireworks so they are less likely to get caught or reported by their neighbors.

YES, and the gunfire idiots. Starts the day before the 4th and continues until the day after.

@Patriot3

The problem is not the legal Fourth of July fireworks displays that happen one evening.

The illegal fireworks that sound like bombs going off started here a month ago. Every night. Sometimes at 2AM. That’s not a celebration.
