Poofed?!!!!!!!!!

OK, I have only been posting a short while and have learned so much about so many products..and had some really great feedback from people here. I really enjoy these boards so much. I have to ask a really silly question, and I hope that I will not be attacked for this, but , WHAT is Poofing? And how or why does anyone do it? I just dont understand it. I have seen some posts that are not nice, and have been very sad to see how some people just seem to feed on that type of thing. I have also detected a flavor of sarcasm in some responses........I think the best approach is to ignore those posts. Does the Q monitor the posts, and what happens if someone reports a post? Thanks for helping me understand the world of forums..
