I just read R & R thread on her friend's son who was drinking and took Ambien and that's why I am posting this.
I work for a medical call center and I am SHOCKED at how many callers do not know this number.
If you even suspect that anyone you know has ingested any type of medication/food/plant/ANYTHING that could have the remote possibility of being dangerous......Call poison control and/or 911 immediately.
Most doctors don't know the antidote for overdosing or ingesting a dangerous item. Most of the time they recommend calling poison control. Hospitals also rely on them to help them out.
I had a friend whose son took too many pills and when she called poison control they told her to get to the hospital ASAP and that they would call ahead to tell them what to do. When she got to the hospital P/C had not yet called and hospital had to call them.
BTW, you can call them if you suspect your PET has ingested something dangerous too.
So please, post this number where it is visible to everyone in the home.
