My 5 year old Siberian Husky Hurley who has been epileptic since a pup is in the hospital suffering from cluster seizures. He has been well controlled on phenobarbital for 4 years. He had his first cluster at the end of October, 3 seizures in 36 hours. Saturday morning he had two seizures back to back, 12 hours later another seizure, 4 hours later another, 4 hours later another and one Sunday morning, each seizure worse than the one before. Sunday morning we rushed him to animal ER, they wanted to hospitalize him but were not going to do anything for him unless he had another seizure. So we opted for them to do blood work and an IV loading dose of extra phenobarbital and brought him home. He seized again last night so we returned to the hospital immediately.
He is on a continuous Valium drip for 24 hours and will be given a loading dose of potassium bromide. The pheno just doesn't seem to be working for him anymore...
I just want him back home and seizure free again, I love my boy so much and am so frightened for him.
Thank you
