Our family has rescued a wonderful Chocolate Lab. We adopted him from a friend of a friend. The lady who had him previously only gave him up because of financial problems.
He's 11 months old and weighs 78 pounds. His previous owner Never Leash Trained him!! I'm afraid he's going to hurt us or himself while we are trying to leash train him. He is great in the house. He is perfectly potty trained and crate trained but he pulls so hard on walks it is scary. He can pull my husband. I'm only 5'3'' and he can almost drag me anywhere he wants to go. We haven't considered letting our 9 year old even try walking him.
We've had him for about two months and have had a six week obedience class with a great trainer. The dog is so smart that he already knows all the down, sit, stay, come commands. He is a classic Lab and really seems to want to please us. I'm sure if we could figure out how to get through to him he would get it.
Anyone have any suggestions for us?
