Re: Phrases that are finger nails on chalkboard to you

Childish abbreviations of words--hubs, adorbs, totes.

Unless you are 12, just say the word.

Using Walla and bookoo instead of voilà and beaucoup.

I'm a "you guys" offender. I've said it forever  and everyone I know says it. Maybe a regional thing or a grew up in the 60s and 70s thing?

When people say, "I have to go p*e." Or, "I have to p*e."   When did that word become socially acceptable on any level?

@sandy53Or "I have to go p*e -  p*e" as though they will be having more than one while in there.

When there’s a man-made or natural catastrophe,

”...praying for the victims/survivors”.

It’s just a Hallmark Card saying to make the giver feel better.

@RainCityWoman

Those bother me too.    What annoys me more is when I misuse.  I don’t make the mistakes you list but, I frequently dangle prepositions and, I don’t always know how to rearrange to correct without a major sentence overhaul!

Reading this makes me think my usage of frequently to modify dangle might be incorrect or, maybe, my punctuation is incorrect!
