@Desertdi    Take your electric heater, go into a bedroom and keep the door shut....maybe until March.

I used to try and keep my mama warm and crawl under the blankets with her!

@Desertdi    You need a big dog.  Amazing how much heat they generate.

@Kachina624      Yup!    I had a pretty good size poodle back in Chicago!!!    Of course, he was a rambunctious dude and loved to frolic in the snow.   Have you ever tried to get snow clumps off a wooly dog????

@Desertdi    Yes, I've had several miniature poodles.  Loved them all; so much personality.

We used to live in Las Vegas (similar weather to Phoenix) and we would always get a chuckle watching the tourists in shorts, t shirts and flip flops in January when the temps were in the 40s and sometimes a lot colder.  It is not always 100+ in either of those cities.

@kaydee50   You also see that in the NE during the middle of a 20 degrees-wind chill factor -0 snow blizzard.  Folks men dressed like that going & coming from a store getting "blizzard" supplies and/or shoveling show.

Layers, mornings & evenings are chilly. Usually sunny during the days between 55-70.

Re: Phoenix weather in January

I've lived in Phoenix all my life. In January people will wear anything from shorts and a tee to coats and jeans. Don't really need a heavy coat because you won't need it all day. Don't bring any dressy clothes either. You can walk into a 5 star restaurant in jeans and a tee or shorts and sandals in summer. We don't do fancy. I would bring a few long sleeved lightweight shirts, some jeans, sneakers and maybe some cowboy boots or you can buy them when you get here, plus a sweatshirt jacket and maybe a lightweight type from someplace like LL Bean.

Thanks for all the responses. I now have a pretty good idea of what to bring/wear. Coming from Minnesota, I have loads of choices in sweaters, jackets, etc.

Merry Merry to all and a good New Year!

Weather is changeable. Google the Weather a week before you leave to see what the forecast will be. It's not going to be warm.
