An Haboob is an amazing and a fairly recent occurrence over the last several years. Basically what it is a massive wall of dust, dirt, bugs and anything else that rolls up in wave. They typically roll up from the south western desert during the monsoon season. With the rain, it is kinda muddy... The good part is that they don't really last very long.

My summer neighbors on either side have winter homes in Apache Junction & Gilbert. They told me the haboob can tear up your air cond condenser & car radiator if running & make a mess of the pool. I love our clean mountain air & the thunder is rolling as I type this as the monsoon moisture is coming in today. Maybe Phoenix will have another one today.

I was just going to ask ....... looks flat in this photo. Glad there are mountains all around. I'll have to search to find out more about Phoenix and also images.

That's a funny expression. I like that. Actually Phoenix's nickname is the valley of the sun because it's surrounded by "mountains" .
