I'm 5'2 1/2" I always get my half in there lol  .   I need an inseam of 26 with heels,  and 25" without .  I actually prefer capris or crops as they fall just a few inches from my ankle or a bit shorter depending .  So in the summer I'm pretty good .    In summer I wear mostly flat sandals , flip flops or a wedge for casual.  .   Anyone thinking 27/28" is petite isn't right that must be a designer that is a tall person.

i don't buy quacker,  but have heard Angel say we don't offer  petite we only do short .   Makes no sense as a petite is not only length it is the rise as well.   That makes a true petite .

now tops are a whole other thing !   I like 24" and no more the 25.   I can do 26 sometimes ,  but 24" looks the best I feel.  I'm short waisted , long legs for my height.

Oh! and sleeve length , please !
why are they so long !?   That's why I like 3/4 sleeve ,  at least they aren't down to my knuckles!  And I don't like the pushing up the sleeve look !   If top comes in petite the sleeve length is good for me.

Re: Petite Ladies

[ Edited ]

I've been saying that it doesn't make much sense (to me) that Petite sizing is only 1 and 1/4 inches shorter than Regular sizes.

1 and 1/4",  1 and 1/2", etc.

In pants, shirts, jackets, dresses, and almost everything else.

I'm not a Petite size, but I do notice that the difference is not short enough for most Petites.

My mom was a Petite, and she used to hem her items much shorter than a mere inch and a half.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

According to QVC vendors most garments are only addressed

in the length.

Yeah, QVC doesn't sell a true petite.

I would prefer it if ladies' pants used measurements like menswear:    waist size, then length.

(A very few do it that way)

That would not work for me.  I have a small waist and wider hips and plenty of junk in my trunk. If I bought pants by my waist size, they wouldn't fit elsewhere.

Women are not built like men.  Some are straight up and down with a flat bottom and some are curvy. We have different shapes.  It is very frustrating to find pants that fit.

@CarmieI understand your frustration. I'm a pear shape so no way could I ever wear the standard men's pants. And when I buy pants the first thing I do is check the rear view, "does this make my butt look big?"

My sis is more rectangular. She never checks the rear view! This is foreign to me. Smiley LOL

Does it make sense to you when petites are only 1" shorter than regular?

@Bonkers1 No!  I always have to laugh at this!  I'm 5'1" and two of my closest friends are 5'7" and 5'9".  What is one inch going to do for me as a short person compared to a lot of taller women?  I still have to have the top shortened!

There should be a minimum of 3" difference! I don't know where they came up with this 1 1/4" shorter for petitie tops.

One of the first things that I do when purchasing a top is to check the bust measurments and the length.  So many tops are in the 26"+ to almost 29" in length.  I prefer 25".  Looks and fits to much better.

As for pants it depends on the style.  A wide leg 28" is good and I might be able to wear a 29" inseam.  However on a straight leg or crop I go shorter.

@febe1 A petite size with a 28" inseam is PERFECT for me. I can't always find them so I jump at the chance to order this inseam.

Same here.  I actually can wear up to 29"

Same with me 28" is perfect.  Wasn't that the standard length for regulars not too long ago?  It was so odd when 31" became standard.

28" would still be too long for a 5' tall person though. Im 5'4".

We are the same size.

Anyway, even the B&M stores are goofy with sizing.    I carry a tape measure on my key ring, and measure EVERYTHING.   It seems 4 & 6 measure the EXACT SAME now...which are a little big on me.    I couldn't get a 2 over my shoulder or hip bones.

I remember back in the 90's when the garment union had "universal sizing"...     I guess unions are gone now.     di

And shoes aren't any better!

There was a time when every pair of shoes I owned were size 7 1/2.  Now, the well-fitting shoes I have in my closet range from sizes 6 1/2 to 9!

How is that even possible?

@Tinkrbl44 Thank you for saying this about shoes!!! I thought it was just me! Buying shoes can be so frustrating because of this and it doesn't matter what kind, dress shoes to casual to sneakers it's like that.

@Ladybug724

It's the craziest thing, isn't it?  It has turned shoe shopping into a guessing game!  LOL

The average height of American women in 2025 is 5'4" and a tad.

There is a problem with Petite sizing.

Susan Graver advises 5'4" and under go Petite.

Companies are afraid they will miss some sales if they go under 28" inseam.

How many times do hosts tell you to roll your pants up. Amy says she almost has to pull some up to her bra.

I'm 5'2" and I go for an ankle pant, or a crop pant, which is ankle on me.

Amy and Courtney usually are in very high heels.

Short gals like sneakers, too! 5' ladies are just out of luck.
