I believe The Vermont Country Store sells Shalimar.  They do sell some of the old favorites on there.  You might want to check them out.

I received their catalog last night and I can CONFIRM, Shalimar is in the catalog.

Re: Perfume Ladies

A big thank you re: New Orleans Perfume . com  and also Fragrancenet.com;   and FragranceX.

I have a list (upstairs) of the other suggestions and will staple the two notes together!

EDITED to correct my spelling of Fragrancenet.com.  (corrected)

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@ROMARY    It's fragrancenet. com.  They always have some coupons floating around. Sometimes up to 30% off.

@grandma r   good luck in your fragrance search. Hope you find something you love.

@Tique, I can find 37% off promos quite often for fragrancenet.com. My only beef with them is that they Shoprunner, which gave me free two-day shipping if I spent a minimum of $25.

Their own minimum is much higher for free shipping, and their regular shipping prices are not super great.

Even so, their prices are so good that the total amount is often still less than elsewhere.

I need your help.  Years ago, 40+, I always wore Shalimar and loved it.  I don't remember why I stopped, but, DH always liked it.  Anyway, I have tried various brands over the years but nothing stands out.  I liked the original TOVA but later versions reminded me of but spray.  I have been using Cashmere Mist cream and like it.  I am wondering if the current Shalimar is the same as the original or can you recommend something.  Something that lasts but doesn't enter the room before you.  I no longer have a department store nearby and I no longer drive on highways.  Thank you for your suggestions!!

All of the classic fragrances have changed (reformulated) due to the  IFRA  ban on many real ingredients, that may be irritating for all of us at one time or another.  These regulations have ruined my beloved YSL Opium....Smiley Sad

Go to this web site:  Fragrantica.com  and you will see what is similar to Shalimar.

You can see the notes for fragrances and read reviews, although take them with "a grain of salt." Smiley Wink  I always go to this site before I even go to the store to sample a fragrance.

Also, you can look up a certain "note" that will list scents with that note, example Jasmine.

Hope that helps!

@Stray  - Love the smell of Youth Dew!  And, you're right about it being best in the winter. A little to heavy for the summer. My mother used to wear it in the 60s and I always think of my Mom when I smell it.  On a different note (see what I did there) I always go back to Chanel #5.  My Nana wore it and I have loved it since.  The smell of Chanel and peppermint chewing gum will bring me back to my youth and my Nana.
