I need your help.  Years ago, 40+, I always wore Shalimar and loved it.  I don't remember why I stopped, but, DH always liked it.  Anyway, I have tried various brands over the years but nothing stands out.  I liked the original TOVA but later versions reminded me of but spray.  I have been using Cashmere Mist cream and like it.  I am wondering if the current Shalimar is the same as the original or can you recommend something.  Something that lasts but doesn't enter the room before you.  I no longer have a department store nearby and I no longer drive on highways.  Thank you for your suggestions!!

@grandma r

I was a Shalimar wearer for years and years.  I've since switched to Vaniglia del Madagascar by i Profumi di Firenze.  It really is a wonderful scent!

Re: Perfume Ladies

[ Edited ]

@ROMARY

There is an amazing perfumery in New Orleans called Bourbon French.  It is very old, > 150 years.  They created a perfume for Napoleon.  They have old ledgers with perfume receipts for customers who lived a hundred years ago, written in pale, spidery handwriting.

If you visit the shop they can custom blend a scent just for you, it takes two days, or did when I had it done 20 some years ago.  My scent recipe is written in one of those ledgers with my name.

But, they also carry a variety of their own custom blended scents, and single note scents.  I always keep my blend on hand as well as a tiny bottle of heliotrope scent - absolutely spot on with the scent.  A good source for JASMINE  🌼 or other single scent lovers.

They do mail order on line, I have purchased from them for years, and can highly recommend them.

Im going back to my Youth Dew which I wore all during my 20's.

You may like Mon Guerlain that QVC sells...It smells so good and it does last.Also I have seen where Evine has a huge perfume inventory, you may want to take a peek over there as well.....

QVC usually has Mon Guerlain on Easy Pay quite often as well.......

@grandma r: I, too, wore Shalimar for years, (& don't know why I stopped, either! lol), & currently wear La Vie est Belle by Lancome, Cashmere Mist; but my new favorite is Mon Guerlain. You might want to give it a try!

FYI: Any perfume in oil form is usually stronger and richer but lacking in sillage (meaning it stays very close rather than radiating outward.) Spray perfumes are lighter but have better projection.

@grandma r, I've had good luck with Amazon. But if you're reticent, I'd suggest buying only when it's sold by Amazon and not by a marketplace seller.

I highly recommend Fragrancenet and FragranceX, both discount sites that are very reputable.

I got a bottle of Diorissimo from Amazon ,and I think it was old. I contacted them ,and got a refund. I bought a bottle from someone else and it was fine..That can happen anywhere
