I returned 2 items to be credited back to my card through PayPal.  Instead the money went into my "PayPal account" where you can then have a check mailed back to you.  It has only happened 2 or 3 times.  The rest of the returns go right back to my credit card. I called 2 times but cannot get a straight answer.  They tell me to call my card customer service. Anyone else experience this?

That's normal.  It always works that way.

I don't use PayPal for this reason. I have also found that if you buy online and use PayPal and then return the item to the store you don't get your money back very quickly as when you use your card.

I've never had it work that way.  My refunds always go back to the CC I used (through PayPal).  I've had a PayPal account pretty much since they first started.

In fact, I just had a refund from HSN; it went back to my card, as requested.

I think it may have something to do with whomever issued the refund and what they directed.  That's probably why PayPal has told the OP to contact her CC services.

Re: PayPal Question

[ Edited ]

You can transfer the money from your PayPal account to your  checking account or debit card if you have that info in their system.

There is no need to wait for a check.  That's what I do.

I also have had the money returned to my CC, but I mostly use my debit card or checking account to buy items with  PayPal.

PayPal automatically sends refunds to my credit cards. If I use debit, the money sits until I transfer it to my bank account.

It's always gone back to the credit card I used that's attached to my PayPal account.  It's never gone directly back to PayPal.

I use PP often, my transactions are billed to my CC and if there is a return or a credit it always come thru on my CC.

@kze  Not true, not for me, ever.  Perhaps that's the way some have their PayPal account set up.  But that has never been the way PayPal works for me, and I use PayPal for nearly every online purchase except QVC and Amazon.

I use it about once a week, every week.  Any refund goes back to my credit card -- always.

I have only had to get a refund a couple of times in the 20 years I have been doing PayPal but it went straight to my A. Express card.
