Poor sweet Pat should not be demonstrating working out on an exercise machine-she looks like a fish out of water (as I also would appear!)

@DiggerdanI didn't see Pat, but I'd think having someone who admittedly isn't a life-long exerciser to demonstrate a machine is quite realistic.  Lots of possible buyers need to know that everyone who gets on those machines won't be automatically young and fit again (assuming even I was both at the same time).

Lots of posters beg for cosmetic models who aren't 21; maybe we'd do ourselves a favor worrying more about exercise machinery most frequently demonstrated by those who are already fit except where the machine is aimed for those people????

I didn't see the demonstration.....but i laughed because it reminded me of when the Q had Pat do the garden shows (for YEARS I remember her saying she didn't have a green thumb).....but when they had her the do those little craft segments in the garden shows (that were so bad)...i gave her kudos for the effort....

You are right, this may give Non- exercisers incentive.

That's funny but these days, the hosts have to do whatever they are told to do.

My DH is a fitness guru. When he sees young, very fit models on the demos on these machines on the shopping channels, he is very resentful. He says let me see someone on there who is overweight and no spring chicken.

If they did that, they wouldn't sell many of those machines.  Just like it is with makeup and skincare; they are selling women a dream or a fantasy.  We see the pretty shiny machine with the slim, atheletic, pretty person on it and the dream kicks in and...it's on Easy Pay.  We wouldn't even look at it if an overweight 60 year old was huffing and puffing on it.

It's better to have older less fit people demonstrating because I would think more would buy it since it would not be seen as something for the younger and more fit.  I can't imagine anyone thinking that they would end up looking like the young fit model demonstrating a fitness item.  Seeing that the average person could really use this equipment is more realistic.  I got that LegMaster Total Body Toning & Strengthening Machine when it was presented a couple of months ago and I was on the fence about it because all those demonstrating it  were young and fit.  Even though I am very fit and toned at 65, I wasn't sure it was for me.  If I had seen Pat or a less fit peron demonstrating it it would have been a no brainer.  I did end up getting it and it is great but I debated about it.

I don't care the age of the person, just look at the vendor for Aeropilates, she isn't young, but she does know how to use the equipement and that's what mattered to me when I was looking to buy. Personally I want to see someone that knows what they're doing not a novice. I even Tivo'd some of those presentations to watch how they used it while I waited for it to arrive. And yes, three years later I'm in good shape.
