@jubilant wrote:Of course there are Muslims that are not radical as well as Christians who are not radical. A true Christian should have love and show love to all. There are also Muslims who don't trust Christians. While the Quran (which is basically their Bible) does say some good things about Christians and some bad....on the whole....they are taught to be cautious of Christians. Some mingle with us in spite of that. Some Muslims would call them..."not so good Muslims" for doing that. So, what I am trying to say is this is definitely a two way street.
There is no way in any religion that teaches killing of the infidels. And they are the only one, so to me this is enough proof. I have studied enough in my life to understand who is who.

This is a low tech - a few guns and homemade bombs filled with nails...in the hands of people who are only not afraid to die for their cause - they welcome death.
To me the question is WHY are people turning to this - killing strangers and then killing themselves in the process? And what can we do to make them see a better way.
Here lies one problem with 'fighting' this type of war. Some people (and groups) cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be negotiated with, they cannot be compromised with.
So many Americans think that these kind of people are raised to sympathize, empathize, to be tolerant, accepting, and rational. They are not. To try to find a way to do such things with these people only cost more lives.
The problem is that THEY are US.
THEY are here already. THEY are not just people of Middle Eastern heritage.
THEY are fanatics - fueled on by propaganda they see on the internet.
May I repeat - THEY are here - and many of our children are being drawn to their warped thinking...and are being recruited daily.
ITA.
It's shocking to me how people don't see this....or understand this.
Dovetails w/ the responses about Syrian refugees to the US. The refugees have nothing to do with the people...they are escaping from. Why can't people see this? Innocent people needing help to save their lives.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. What's to prevent terrorists from blending in with refugees to come to the U.S, ?
Frankly, iMO, I don't think we should bring in ANY refugees .... and just send funding to somewhere else!
We can't take care of our own....it can't be just the USA but all civilized Countries must unite to resolve the threat.

Quite a few years ago now, when my area was flooded with refugees from the Khomeini overthrow in Iran, there was all kinds of hate and discrimination out there because really ignorant people were equating the immigrants WITH Khomeini, the embassy hostages, etc. Hello? They came here because *they were in danger of their lives in Iran because they were pro-Western, anti-fanaticism.* so they were victimized twice over.
That was well before terrorist attacks on US soil and other civilized countries....

At one time I did.
We will just go to bed at night, like last night, wondering what the death count will be. And wake up in the morning and wonder where the next target will be.
And innocents will be killed and our policemen will be our armies.
And we know it's basically about religion, but Christians and Jews aren't their only targets.
Even non-believers will be killed. No one gets a pass.
And in the WTC, Muslims were killed...Hindu, Budhists....

All I can say is that I see a LOT more metal detectors in public places coming into our lives. That ... and a lot more people employed as security guards!

Because they all aren't in innocent refugees
So in fear of what one in a thousand *might* do/be, let the rest of them starve? And let the rest of them, women and children, remember who could have helped them and didn't? Remember when *they* are adults. Yet some kindness might make a world of difference, now and in the future.

And...? If there was that much hatred towards them well before 9/11, ponder how much more there is now - towards people who had nothing to do with any of it.

Metal detectors are only a band-aid. Bombs are a bigger threat, the components much harder to detect and screening for potential bombs or bomb components would be onerous to those seeking entry to a building or venue. It would take many hours to screen everyone going to a sports venue for example.

I can rattle off several Christian terrorists. Timothy McVeigh comes to mind, as does the person who shot up the church in S. Carolina. Not all terrorists are Muslim. Not by a long shot.
Come on, more of muslim, than christian, i do not think the two you mentioned were christian, i don't think in the true meaning.
There are good and bad in all religions, but I would never consider McVeigh a Christian, nor was the shooter in S Carolina as he was a member of the Arian Brotherhood.

The police took their time because they did not know who was a terrorist & who was a concert goer.
The police just can't storm a statium w/hundreds of people w/o knowing who they are going to "nutralize."
Also, there was a negotiator on the scene if needed.<----- according to SKY news & MSNBC.
The police DID storm the concert hall. The police knew to shoot anybody with a gun, that there was no negotiating.
If it seemed to take "a long time" for the police to get there, it's because of the bombing at the football (soccer) stadium, AND the restaurant shooting happening AT THE SAME TIME.
There is only a limited number of police officers. They can't be everywhere at the same time.
And it was reported that they stormed or entered slowly before the public was aware they were in the hall for obvious reasons.
