@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes Interesting! You didn't mention the percentage of applicants who brought mom & dad with them into an interview who were actually hired. I would love to know that!

My parents NEVER ONCE came to my schools, or ever spoke with my teachers. They did, however, show up for graduations.

My mother didn't even know what I did for a living. My dad knew where I worked, but didn't know what I DID, either....

My question is why does the business allow it ? Show mom and dad where the waiting room is .

I have heard of parents sitting in job interviews with their (supposedly) adult offspring. I have also heard of some drone parents enrolling in their children's college courses. If I were an employer and an applicant showed up with Mommy, I would not only not hire him, but I would cancel the interview and tell him/her to come back when he/she grew up. The level of parental involvement in their children's lives nowadays is ridiculous. No wonder we see so many so-called adults who are completely clueless and are permanently stuck in the toddler phase. Helicopter parenting has gotten out of control

This is fascinating to me because as someone who has been interviewing and hiring people for well over 25 years, I have never experienced this.

Even when doing a huge interviewing event to open a new store I have never seen a parent, spouse or friend.
I also Just asked my husband who just hired a team of 40 (managers and team members, all different ages) for a new store opening and he has never experienced it either.

A newly minted term for ANYONE who brings Mommy or Daddy or both to the interview..

Kidults.

And I agree with other poster...IF Mommy or MeeMaw or PawPaw show up...they should not get into the interviewer's office, and the hiring manager SHOULD tell the kidult to come back when he's grown up.

Sheeeesh.

I am SO GLAD I'm out of the workforce, retired, and am able to keep FAR AWAY from this latest moronic development.

We've run across parents who (physically) act like young children.

All of that jumping up and down, screaming in joy and laughter, etc.

I think it's somewhat of a 'trend'.

Back to Roman days? Lots of commotion.

Oh, well. None of my business. Whatever works for folks.

I've recruited for my company, on and off, for almost ten years. Never saw this happen, but I believe it.

IF a person came with their parent and assumed they could come in on the interview, I'd allow it.

First, to see what the interaction was with both this applicant and their helicopter parent ...

and secondly, if the head of HR asked why I didn't give them a second interview or seriously consider them for even the open janitor position, I could easily provide enough information.

Just mind boggling ....
