Well had my first taste of Panettone. I like it a lot. They were on clearance at the store and so DH bought a couple.

How about you all? Do you like Panettone? Probably if you don't like fruitcake you wouldn't but it is a lot lighter than fruitcake.

I love it! Used to be that it was (more or less) only made in and imported from Italy during a limited time of year. As I recall, since it is almost impossible to find year around (well, I don't know about now-a-days), I ran across several recipes on the Web. Maybe you can find those special ingredients and formulate your own type of Panettone.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I remember having them only around the holidays. It was toasted and then buttered and eaten for breakfast.

I've seen Giada and the Barefoot Contessa use it to make French toast and bread pudding.

p.s. Wish they would offer it year around. Try finding it at World Market. If not, email/contact them. It might be worthwhile for them to carry it year around, if they don't already. Would be a nice Easter treat, too.

It has a unique, light flavor. I'm going to search the Web to see where to find it year around, if at all possible. Otherwise, maybe I'll try making it (similar) myself.

scottie, I grew up around it. I am not a fan.

You can toast it, make French toast and bread pudding. I'm sure there are other things you can do with it. I'm sure recipe sites have ideas you might like.

You can buy it year round in certain stores around here. If you want it, give me a shout out. I'll send it to you. Smiley Wink Smiley Happy

Enjoy it. Smiley Happy You would make my mother proud. She wonders where she went wrong with me. lol lol

LOL! I bet you don't like fruitcake either...am I right? *smile*

Thanks for the tips. I bet it would make good french toast and bread pudding. DH bought about 4 of them so that will help me use it up! (They were a good buy....he would by dirt if it was on sale).

Thanks Romary! DH bought about 4 of them and they have a date up until spring, so I probably won't want anymore until next year!

Think I will try that toasting with butter and the french toast and bread pudding tho. I bet that would be good!

Nope, don't like fruitcake! lol Smiley Happy

You can freeze them, too. Just be sure they are wrapped well and in a freezer bag.

My mom would cut them into whatever serving size was appropriate. Double wrap and put them in a freezer bag.
