I really with UPS would knock, especially if it's after dark.  Yesterday I had something coming by UPS and there had been a delay with trucks getting over the pass, so it didn't get loaded until after 9am.

Ok, that was fine but it created a slight delay.  But the tracking said that it would still be delivered yesterday.   I hated feeling like I had to wait and kept looking out like I was paranoid or something.

As much as I was watching I still missed it, as it was delivered just before 10pm.   The only reason I knew was that, since I was not on the computer that late, I went  on my iPod to check email and saw the delivery email from UPS.

This happens a lot where I live especially with the mail, I have even received mail for different towns, I just bring it back to the post office and explain what happened or catch the delivery person the next day.

As for UPS, they never knock when I have a package delivered, and with no tracking information available until it has been delivered, it is hard to watch for a delivery when you do not even know where it is?

On all the mail services page ups.com, usps.com, etc. there is a area called 'email notifications' I fill that out with real name and email  and check the box as to what I want to know and they're usually pretty good about showing you where your item is whether it's in Nevada at 8p.m. and then how it migrates to wherever next and usually give you a when to expect it date. Not time, but, which day .

Once you sign up (FREE) for email notifications they tell you (UPS) that they will go ahead and bring out sometimes instead of turning it over to usps because they will be in your area.

Now, USPS, they're a PITA they will tell you when it's delivered LOL

Big deal your at the mailbox and they send you an email saying "Delivered" why, no ****. LOL   I still request notifications though

@CareBears Why aren't you able to track your shipment? I think most companies provide tracking numbers, and often a link that you can click to take you directly to the tracking page. If you didn't get an email with the code, you might try checking your account with that company online.

@juperier I do most of my shopping on QVC, and I would say the last 2-3 months little to no tracking information, especially if it is sent out by UPS to be transferred to post office, I don't know?

Just this morning I was trying to see where one of my orders was as far as when it would be delivered, it had shown at our local post office for 2 days, my husband came home with a package and said he found it on the front step, when I looked at the tracking information it still showed "Received At Local Post Office", not "Delivered", and the door bell never rang I was home all morning.

@SharkE I just found that out early this morning, I ordered from another on line vendor and saw that I was able to do that, so thank you!

@chickenbutt You can have the USPS and UPS drivers who knock on my door and wake me up, particularly the UPS driver that practically knocks the door dow!. Luckily the regular drivers don't, but the few who do would get to listen to some choice words if I managed to get up and get to the door before they were gone!

Good thing is that I usually know a package is arriving. So I just roll over and check online, then go back to sleep (or go retrieve it if it's something really exciting/valuble).

They just ring my doorbell and run for the van. LOL You can buy doorbells now that don't have to be electrically installed. They will just hit the button and run off.

I never have to sign for nothing any more these days, so, funny, I had a kitchen aid beater coming and so I opened the door to the man and signed for a mixer beater. LOL

@SharkE In our case the UPS driver places the packages right under the doorbell (which is right next to the door) and still he does not ring it?

The few packages I get from Fedex, they too never knock or ring the bell?

Our regular mail carrier does ring the bell, but if she is on vacation, nothing!

Re: Package stolen, I think

[ Edited ]

@CareBears You can't track QVC packages on the UPS site until they actually receive them. I think QVC uses another means for iinitial part of the shipment journey. Mine usually show up at a UPS hub a few days after QVC ships them and 1-2 days before it reaches the local UPS office. If USPS is delivering the package, the USPS tracking code shows towards the bottom of the USP page. Once they've handed it over to USPS, you have to that code on the USPS screen. After a few times you'll figure how long the USPS takes to deliver. For me, local UPS transfers it to USPS too late to make that day's truck, so I get it the next day. USPS tracking can take till they're processing mail the next morning to show up.

By the way, if UPS screen shows "delivered," it typically means "delivered" to USPS (since that's where they are delivering it to). It's "delivered" on the USPS screen that you're looking for.

Ours here in Tx is good about it, plus, I'll get an email saying "your pkg has been delivered" and I go "what, it has"? then, I'll run to front door and there it is. LOL

Do they still make those red lettered tiny signs that you can put around your doorbell that says "Please ring the bell"?   You have to train these men LOL
