Please remember to be kind and considerate while shopping. The salespeople and customer service associates work long hours. They often encounter frustrated customers with short tempers. Try to be a bright spot in their day!
Smile. Be kind. Remember your manners with "Please" and "Thank You" in a sincere and gracious voice.
Hold the door for other shoppers. Help someone reach items off higher shelves. The more we help others, the better our shopping experiences will be. Perhaps everyone will begin shopping friendly year-round.
Thanks for reading. Your cooperation is appreciated (in stores and on-line).

I wanted to add to your thoughtfulness, to look at the name tag and when you say Thanks, Joe, Jane etc., they show a little smile knowing you know they aren't just a robot, but someone.

This time of the year bugs me. There are crowds in the stores and the traffic on the roads is busy. No wonder I'm grumpy when I'm in a line to pay and something goes wrong. The other day I left a Starbucks rather than deal with their ineptness with a customer in front of me who was taking forever to order and pay for their order. Another day I was at the drugstore when nearly all the cash registers malfunctioned. I nearly put the items I was going to purchase down on the counter and walk away.
I'm done holiday shopping for my family so I think I'll do my best to stay out of the stores until the holidays are over!

Thank you so much, BirkiLady! We could all use a bit more kindness, especially during this time of year when so many nerves are already raw for whatever reason.

As someone who worked behind a register in my younger years....this is so true....I try to do this remembering how it was...
My hubby will sometime joke with a cashier at Walmart.......He aksed the one to give him her hand scanner for our big bag of kitty litter still in the cart saying we had had to get home quick...the cat has her legs crossed.....LOL
She laughed and so did the woman behind us....

Sorry but I kind-of not like being told how to act while shopping. I am always kind and friendly and not just around the holidays! I live rural and when we go shopping everyone is very, very kind! They know me by name! All I heard this past Saturday while shopping locally (Small Business Saturday btw) were very gracious shoppers being kind and considerate to each other, as they always are.

Yup, courtesy won't cost you at thing but sure gives a great return.
Remember, there's Always someone having a worse day than you. Play nice.

I don't care for lectures either. I'm also very polite when I'm out shopping. Unfortunately threads like this are usually not seen by the people who should be reading them.

a reminder is always helpful especially during the holidays! i’ve never been rude to sales associates in my life though.

Oh dear. In my world view, a reminder is not a “lecture.” I do always try to be kind and considerate, but I will admit I am not perfect and can always benefit from a kindly reminder.
