Yep, there's a saying----very hot summer, very cold winter....as weather temps even out....I just hope Texas doesnt get an artic storm like we had in February 2021...I dont think they've really solved the issues we encountered back then, but I dont mind some 40 degree temperatures and temps near freezing....especially after the long hot summer we've had this year....

Its not Abbott, its also ERCOT (Electric Realiabity Council Of Texas) that underestimated the artic weather and the idiot our city had in charge of our utility company CPSENERGY---she made the situation far more worse turning off our water causing pipes to burst, (we normally let pipes drip during freezing temps to prevent bursting pipes) and she made many other POOR decisions that made us suffer even more...Instead of rolling blackouts like they had in Fort Worth for example  where you could at least heat food up since the electricity was turned on for in hour spurts,  we had absolutely NO electric nor water!!!!..

And now our electric bills are $20 higher a month to pay high market costs for fuel during this time... PLUS a rate increase to upgrade systems, as well as the seasonal fuel adjustment we pay here in our city during the summer!  That CEO ended up resigning and we have an interim person in charge for now....I hope he can make better decisions....SMH!

The winters when I grew up and now are very different. In those days we had so much cold and snow compared to now. I also remember such awful weather I called them blizzards but maybe they weren't, just seemed like it. Many school days off as it was a very hilly area.

I view the weather where I live, at most, 1 day in advance, but mostly by how it actually is in the present.

Really don't care what a book or anyone else predicts a year, or years, down the road. I count it as yet another thing over which I have no control, so? Don't let it change my outlook on my day to day way of life.

Most have ways to deal with either extreme, hot or cold, use those ways if you have them available. If not? Plan a little ahead as a , just in case. 

Here in our 4 season climate where I have lived all my life. I feel I can guess what might be, as well as a book or a prognosticator. Will deal with it as it happens.

@FiddleDeeDee  There are many days into March that I don't use the A/C. A breeze and ceiling fans suffice. This past winter my A/C went out and I didn't get uncomfortable until later in March when it was replaced. However, I won't leave windows wide open at night...just not safe. Weather is always variable but very good at this time of year. I like it the rest of the time too!

Florida is never dry.  Water, water everywhere.  30,000 lakes in Florida that covers  3million acres of land. The lakes range from very small to the nation's fourth-largest natural lake, 448,000-acre Lake Okeechobee. Florida is the thunderstorm capitall of the world. And on and on for the stormiest cities in the country.  Right now though Maryland is hotter than Florida.

@songbird  Hate to tell ya but our area is down so much water-wise, it isn't funny due to lack of rain. And during the winter, it doesn't rain....at least not where we are. You need to keep your lawn green else get fined $1000 a MONTH via the HOA. Part of our lawn will need to be replaced but no one will do it till October; too busy. So we'll have to run the water a LOT and with the water fees....$$$$.

Our ponds are down almost 50%. Our fountains that are located in the middle in order to keep the water from turning into a disgusting pile of grossness had to be turned off due to the water table being too low; same at our local Walmarts and other communities. Lots of thunder and lightening, yeah but rarely a drop for our area. Stinks because we need the rain.

So though we may be humid, it doesn't mean we have the water we need to keep turf green, plants alive and the ponds full. Of course, you are can pay to keep your lawn green and your plants alive but during the summer, we rarely need to use irrigation systems. This year and with water costs so high....it's been an issue.

If everything is wet and great where you are, fantastic. Enjoy it. Florida is a huge state so not everyone is going to have the same weather conditions. I'll stick to my hot and dry for the winter prediction. It wasn't all that cool last winter and I don't recall much rain so...hot and dry kinda fits.

@Xivambala  We keep our thermostat at 74 and don't touch it. If it comes on, it's needed. If not, then great. Last winter, it came on a lot. Yes, we have ceiling fans running 24/7; AC still came on. So we can't claim winter in Florida is all that cool. Glad it was comfortable for you
