@nana59b I just read the update on your friend, I am so very sorry for your loss, extra prayers being said for her granddaughters!

What awful news, my heart bleeds for these granddaughters! Is her husband alive? I am wondering who now will care for them? Hopefully another relative can now step up, what a sad situation.
As an aside, I am just wondering if there was more going on with her than just pneumonia, as I contracted double pneumonia at the age of 60 and went to the emergency room and was sent home with a prescription for antibiotics. Sick as I was, it was not life threatening (although I am not downplaying how I felt at the time). I am wondering if maybe there was an underlying cause for her death. Regardless, I feel heartbroken over this. I will say a prayer for the family.

My prayers went out! I just went through the same thing! A close friend of mine was misdiagnosed with lung cancer four years ago. Last summer her hacky cough returned .The docs and specialists she saw treated her for pneumonia. She told them she felt worse so they upped the steroids. She went to be scoped to ID the type of pneumonia she had. It was inconclusive so specialist did surgical biopsy. My dear friend went in on a Friday and was due home Sat or Sun. We had plans for the following Tues. when I hadn't heard from her by Sun eve, I found she was in ICU with flu! She then was intebated but was improving. She had ups and downs like this all week until I discovered she was taken off life support and passed! Results of biopsy showed advanced lung cancer. None of us were prepared for any of this! It stunned me very badly. I pray for you, the lady, and her two grands! They need her to get well! Please let us know when she's well!

4Kicks - thank you for your kind words. my friend's husband is still alive, but will never be able to take care of his granddaughters by himself. he is in his 60's and still works as a fisherman. my heart is aching for those girls. there is a son, but he has 3 young children of his own....it would be wonderful if he and his wife were able to take on such a responsibility. those girls have been through so much. my heart is breaking for them....just so very very sad....don't remember being so sad....

I am so sorry your dear friend has passed away. I know only too well how it feels to lose a friend. Two of my dearest long term friends both passed away in 2011 from breast cancer. My heart hurts for you. The memories you have of your friend will give you comfort. How sad too that the two grandchildren have lost their grandmother and I pray they will be taken care of by loving family or friends.
