PODs

Has anyone used PODs for a long move? My son, who just graduated college, will be moving a few states away and would like to take his stuff with him. He does not have enough to hire a real moving company, just a bedroom set, kitchen set and futon and many boxes right now. Was wondering if POD would be less expensive than renting a U-Haul truck. Thanks.
