Jubilant, did you mean to say that the Israeli military is stronger than the US ?

******** I did say that....sorry!  What I should have said is that they are better and stronger with homeland security and we should be learning from them.

Sorry, but the stats don't agree. Our record is much better than Israel's.

I have recently been reading some articles online about the Israeli's missile systems verses ours.  Also reading about.... what problems building the wall in Israel has caused and how they are planning on improving that, their Iron Dome (I think that is what it's called), etc.  It is very interesting.  I do not claim to know a lot but I am learning and curious.  I think all Americans should be concerned about our ability to protect ourselves more than ever now.

One of the articles talked about how the USA has a lot of technology also, but when it comes to missiles, we would  not have enough "bullet power" (so to speak) against Russian and Chinese missiles fired at us and that we would have to wait to take a hit and then fire back.  Our arsenal of missiles is lacking against such an attack. Israel is more prepared.  They have to be.  They are very innovative people and have a lot of experience.  They have and are learning from their mistakes.  I hope we are listening.

We're not Israel.  We don't need to be Israel.  We're not surrounded by hostile countries. Their technology serves a purpose for THEIR defense.  We have the greatest military in the world, comprised of men and women who volunteered to serve.  No conscription here in the best country in the world.

We need to spend our money on education, health care, infrastructure, immigration and justice system reform, IMO.  We already spend a ton on defense.
We're more at risk from the armed- up crazy neighbor in this country.  Fact.

You have sacrificed nothing and no one.

********** I see what you are saying and agree with much of it as far as what we need to be spending money on.  Yes, we do have a great military....I agree with that, too.  It's just that I am all for keeping that military as strong as we can and do whatever it takes to do that.  Who we are more at risk from.......I am not sure??????

Imagine, troops being deployed. I wish them well, but really, isn't that why we have a military?

At least it is only going to be less than 50 soldiers, not the tens of thousands we had in the other 2 wars. These will be all special forces.

If you don't want to see our soldiers going over there - keep it in mind when you chose who you are going to vote for.

It probably doesn't matter... The MIddle East will always be unstable and yet trying to enhance regional stability will probably always be perceived as important to national security, regardless of who's in charge. Some, though, are probably better at handling international relations than are others.

I am praying for our troops.  A lot of people don't understand that most of our soldiers are ready and want to go.  I have mentioned before that my DH is a Viet Nam veteran.  He thinks the Viet Nam war was a waste of good men....but still...when their country calls....they go.  They are loyal to America...the country they love and would die for.
