@BlingQueen022 wrote:I wouldn't mess with your neighbors too much. Ever watch the show on the ID Channel called "Fear Thy Neighbor?" People are nuts today. You bother them too much with complaints they will make life miserable for you. Playing basketball outside is a common thing in summer and fall. All kids do it. You can't stop that. Just grin and bear it. That goes for big wheels too.
Reading your thread though reminds me why I love Winter and living in a rual area!!!
@BlingQueen022, I LOVE THAT SHOW. THE FIGHTS START FOR REALLY STUPID REASONS.

The boy just turned eight and they got him a full size basketball hoop which he can't even reach with the ball so the father is playing with it, and the kid is screaming and pulling on his shirt. A four-wheeler that sounds like a chain saw, and a youth compound bow. So now my relaxing Sunday afternoon has turned into the pounding of a ball on the driveway right next to our LR windows, the sound of the bike's motor, and that kid screaming. The bow really bothers me because we have birds, rabbits, and squirrels in our yard. I don't think they (the bow) are even allowed within the city limits. We reported them once because they have an open fire pit that's against code. This guy thinks he is so special he does not have to follow the laws and rules like the rest of us.
My neighbor must be this guy's brother.....kids playing tag on lawn tractors for hours....after dark....have called police in the past with no results.......this guy is just as obnoxious as your neighbor...maybe these guys will win the lottery and move their sorry butts......

Want to trade places with me? I'll take your basketball if you take my band in the garage neighbors and loud music until 2:00a.m.(2) neighbors. How about it? The filthy neighbor with dog poo on my property is cool now took 6 years of fussing.
Hit me up if you're interested.
Does your town have a noise ordinance....it might be worth looking into....

My neighborhood has turned over the last 4 years. It was all older residents and things were quiet. They moved to retirement communities or downsized. Several families with children replaced them. There are minor annoyances but I really enjoy having the kids around. Seems like there is always a baseball game going on the street or someone racing about on a skateboard. I am sure I am not putting up with anymore than my neighbors put up with when my children were young.

Don't you belong over on the LOGO forum?

Plus, there is no guarantee that if one moves, life will be better. There are bad neighbors everywhere. I have to listen to my next door neighbors argue and curse on a daily basis, but I have had worse neighbors than that!
Quite true. It took us over 2 years to find a place in a different area with a change of pace. And although we are now in a rural-ish area, it can still get noisy with tree trimming and assorted noise from across the canyon. There are some days I think my old neighborhood was actually quieter!

One important fact is, we are someone's neighbor. There may be things our neighbors don't like about us.
The sounds of children laughing and playing is wonderful..have we forgotten what it was like to be a child?
Some of us have acreage, well, it has to have upkeep. Mow, prune, etc OR have it looking like a jungle. You can't have it both ways.
If you KNOW of illegal activity, report it to the police, don't complain on community chat and do nothing.
If it's not anything illegal, myob.
No one likes Gladys Kravitz living in the neighborhood.

@GCR18 wrote:Maybe they will violate the noise ordinance. Unfortunately, it will get worse over time. The neighbors across the street put up a basketball hoop for their son. He didn't do much with it until he was in high school, then he'd have friends over and they'd play until 11pm. I grew to hate basketball. Luckily he went away to college, then the house was sold. It's still there. The new boy living there is about 5, so it may happen again.
If you can't talk with them about it, the only other option is to turn them in if they are really loud. What about the other neighbors. Maybe you can band together.
Basketball is awful! The thump thump will drive you nuts! And most city rules don't touch it.

There are wonderful videos on social media where the police were called because of children making noise playing basketball and the police join in the game! ![]()

Even with all my health issues and age double 7's. I can still manage our 250 trees/lawn and all the other things. Just got done sawing a tree that lightning struck a couple nights ago and broke it in half. Not an easy task with a reciprocating saw, but ain't know way, at my age I'm gonna be picking up any chain saw. Never used one and have to plans on using one.
