And I thought apartment living was bad.  It seems one can have equally bad -- sometimes worse -- problems with neighbors in houses.  Mowing a lawn wouldn't bother me, but a late night garage band would.  I'd certainly be worried about a bow.  :-o

Exactly! I just moved earlier this year back to my house out by Ocean Beach from an extremely busy/filthy area of the city. The neighbors I moved away from had built an illegal basement apartment and the entryway butted up against my rental. They would slam that side door so hard it shook my house 90% of the time. Things fell over on shelves! Door slamming is easily top 3 of the most irritating thing I've come across living in 11 different houses. It was non-stop with 11 people crammed in there. Figured I'd be safe in an unattached house. Nope. And they couldn't speak English so there was nothing I could really do. Back to living in my attached home I own- lady on one side is lazy with her house maintenance but I can trust her with my gate key to pickup my mail, etc when away. Trust Fund 20-something silver spoon kids on the other side, 3 bachelors, couldn't be more useless than __ on a bull. I'm handicapped and they actually will watch me struggle with groceries, trash cans, etc than offer a hand. They've called several City agencies on several neighbors, including me, and the family next to them finally moved because of them. I had a good 2 hour "debate" with the guy who's name is on the deed and got little conveyed, except I'm not going anywhere because my house is paid off and that I know the foundation on his illegal extension is not to code. That stopped his incessant notes "demanding" I fix a rotten board on my fence and other piddly stuff.

What's happening to the days when "neighbors" acted as such and worked together? Now it feels like a world of glass houses and rocks :-/

The gang just left - went to the lake for a while.

Guess what - found out that we are going to have another great grandchild the beginning of March (and my birthday is March 2 !! )  The great granddaughter had on a t-shirt that said -

I am going to be a big sister !  Heart

When she left she said,  Oh I love coming here and having fun.

I commiserate on your issues with your neighbor. You might try having a friendly chat but it may not do any good.

At my prior house the neighbors put up a basketball hoop right by the fence. It was actually closer to my bedroom window and patio then their house areas. I hated the ca-chung-ca-chung-kathoong. We were on pretty friendly terms so I asked if they could move the thing. And she said it was in the only place that had cement.

That started me on my quest to move to a quieter area.

Funny thing tho, when the neighbors on the other side of her house moved she told me she hoped that whomever moved in did not have a noisy dog!

I wanted to smack her.

I'd like to give a few people I know a "snap out of it" smack!

And this is why I don't have neighbors! Been there done that and never again until I get too old and/or senile to care!

Thank you.  It was a lot of fun finding out.  She will be a great big sister, she will be four and will want to "help".  She was talking to one of the horses and said,

Cupcake, I know your name and I hope you know mine because I really, really love you.

If you live next to other people, there will be problems.

That's all there is to it.

If it's not one thing, it will be another.

I would learn to live with it and I wouldn't call the popo.
