Re: Our First Dinner Out in Over a Year

We never stopped eating indoors. As soon as indoor dining opened up last year we have been eating indoors. Can't eat outside in Arizona in the summer any more than you can eat outdoors in Michigan in the winter. Even now when the weather is nice most people eat indoors here even if they're given a choice to eat outdoors.

We started eating out as soon as restuarant reopened....that was last year!  Those that have stayed home for year, enjoy your freedon.

Re: Our First Dinner Out in Over a Year

It is nice to see these posts.  My DH received his second vaccination last Wed.  I am just having my first one tomorrow.   So we will be going out again in about a month or so.  We were able to go out during last summer as the numbers were down in the northeast and we ate outside, which was lovely.   Since that second wave in November though, we have not really been anywhere.   Looking forward to it and to seeing our vaccinated friends again!

Same here 🙂. DH was fully vaccinated yesterday and I am too. We made lunch reservations on the outdoor patio of a Mexican restaurant and requested a table farthest out. We had the area mostly to ourselves and it was a beautiful day. Oddly enough, it did not feel that unusual and certainly not likes it’s been a year.

@tucsongal  Not meaning to rain on your parade but I don't think the vaccine takes immediate effect, but rather14 days.  I think it's a mistake to assume instant immunity the day you get your 2d dose.

I'm in the medical field.

The  2nd shot for both vaccines, has about an  97% efficacy!

That, of course, is after 2 weeks.

Yes that was my point -- after 2 weeks.

No worries about raining LOL and I appreciate the concern 🙂. Fully vaccinated means 14 days out which he now is👍.  I should have said as of yesterday.

@tucsongal, I knew that was what you meant by "fully."

Re: Our First Dinner Out in Over a Year

The first time we went out after almost a whole year it was like I had died and gone to heaven!

It could have been a bowl of cereal or a PB&J sandwich - I didn't have to make it, I didn't have to clean up afterwards.  Someone made it for me, brought it to me and cleaned up for me!
