No one is 'taking offense' @Trinity11 at purported corrections... In fact, no one is 'taking offense' at all... What I am expressing is my own personal view that it is unnecessary to debate the extent of the suffering and misery at all. It's pretty clear there's more than enough to go around and so yes, continuing, as some seem intent on doing, to harp on the absolute extent of the devastation does indeed begin to feel a bit like some folks are choosing to wallow in it and won't be satisfied until we are all wallowing in it...
@stevieb to me no one is harping and wallowing as much as you just don't open the threads and you won't have to post your endless complaints about them

The world is over populated and destroying the planet.
People wouldn't stop "living their lives", going on cruises, flying for fun, disposable plastic for convenience, cutting down forests and the list goes on and on.
People wanted what they wanted and refused to consider the cost.
This virus is, in effect, a correction, a stop and pollution is down.
This is a view into the future when the pollinators have been killed off in exchange for perfect lawns and we all are starving

Pollution is down but the cost too high, one that needs to be paid for by the people/country who unleashed it upon the world. Because of its hiv connection it is being stated more vocally that it had to have been created in a lab. More people have died in the past couple months than any projected numbers from bad air. 240,000 have died from this virus world wide.

If you weren't keeping score (a comment as false as the one that you won't be reading posts re: the numbers) you wouldn't have felt the need to comment on my unnecessary concern about your problem with too much information.
I notice while you mention me "having at it" you made no such statement about yours which was not only snarky but also started our exchange.
At least I tried to offer an olive branch. Sorry you weren't willing to accept it.
@SusieQ_2 Let's be clear here, I never called you out by name until you saw fit not to show me the same courtesy, and my initial comment about the data dumping could have and did apply to several posters... If you thought it was directed specifically at you, then maybe that should tell you something. For the record, I'm not particularly concerned with your rather sophomoric comments aimed at me nor with your opinion of me. As for that supposed olive branch, I somehow must have missed that. Quite frankly, I'm done with this conversation. Enjoy your numbers crunching.

Since these numbers you would prefer not to read about, perhaps you should avoid these threads @stevieb . I have been avoiding the negative, constant critiques of "The Young and the Restless" and the relentless condemnations of the male actors who perform in them, for months now. I would love it if those who despise these shows would just stop watching them and stop the negativity but it's not my right to tell posters where, what and how posters should behave.
Speaking of "wallowing."

@Isobel Archer Beautifully stated, whoever wrote it and I would only add what has become painfully obvious in recent days and that is the myth of a united America is just that... For a variety of reasons, our nation is one where commonalities, shared values, ideals and dreams are no longer so prolific, and so to expect us all to hang tough and hang together, as during the oft mentioned World War 2, is a pipe dream... We're not the same country, we're not the same mix of people, and we don't share the same history now as then...

Thank you for your concern @lovescats and by the way, I love cats too. That said, I believe I'm quite capable of managing my use of the forms, however much your suggestions and kind words are appreciated...

RIght @Trinity11 because discussion of a currently nearly defunct soap opera is right up there in importance with this conversation... We're very different people and both of us are free to express our points of view, both about topics on these boards and about each others opinions... And once again, along with several others, let me express my thanks to you for your suggestion that I avoid these threads, as if doing so were a simple matter on these boards... I feel certain your suggestion is based on nothing but your deep concern for a fellow poster and the proverbial milk of human kindness... Still, as noted, I'll elect how best to spend my time on these boards and right now my time is best spent pointing out that the original post on this thread was a commentary on concerns OTHER than the virus and yet, as predicted, folks couldn't respect that... As always, it was turned into another virus central thread... Have a nice day...

I agree. Sadly, even after 9/11, there was an immediate effort to divide the country. And it has continued.
I honestly don't know what would happen if we were attacked again - even by a specific country. I'm sure there would be those defending that country and insisting that we would be wrong to respond.
