[Love to Run]

Unless someone here is privy to inside information, it's ALL speculation. There was no benefit for anyone to stage such a ridiculous act. Will Smith lost more fans than he gained, Chris Rock's temporary bump in tour sales will peter out (he didn't add any material about the slap to his show in Boston) and viewership for the Academy Awards was already up this year.

Of course it is all speculation @Love to Run .  I have my point of view, as do others.  The Oscars did better this year based on the new Producer/Director (Will Packer) and the three women commediennes who hosted the show.  Plus there was "popular" music that millenials and Gen X'ers could relate to.

These things were never prominent at the boring Oscars.  So the reason why the Oscars did better this year was not necessarily because of the Kerfuffle with Smith/Rock but it will be the glue that will make it interesting again.  Watch how viewership changes and watch for next year.

I follow the money!!  I don't believe everything that is written and challenge conventional opinions.  That's just me though.

They should have escorted him out...and when his name was announced as winning the Oscar, Chris Rock could have accepted it on his behalf.....that would have been the ultimate justice!

Chris Rock said he didn't want that, nor did he want Will arrested.  Think about that for a while @Duckncover .  The fact that the audience INCLUDING Jada laughed when he went marching up there on the stage and that Chris Rock doesn't want to have him arrested or have him removed.  Don't you wonder why?  I do.
