I watch Oprah's "Super Soul Sunday" interviews on her OWN channel. I like the guests she interviews and find the topics interesting and inspiring.
That being said, Oprah constantly interrupts these guests all through the interview! The guest will have some very poignant comment to make and Oprah interrupts them and they never get to say what they wanted to say.
She seems to like to interject her own opinions of their work or the subject matter too much. I want to hear the author talk about their research and what they wrote. All to often, they are trying to make a point that will really help the audience, and Oprah just interrupts and that moment is lost.
I think that is not what a good journalist (interviewer) should do. I can count at least 1/2 a dozen times in one interview that she does that. I know she's excited about her guests and what they have written, but it would be nice to listen to them more than Oprah.

I have noticed this about her for years. This is not a matter of bashing her either because I don't dislike her but she's always interrupting or interjecting her own thoughts. She's not the only interviewer who does this.

I like Oprah. I think she has done so much for television and bringing these Super Soul shows to the airwaves is such a great idea. So many of the guests have inspired me and made a difference in how I view things. It's a great show on Sunday, but she needs to let the guests talk. Some are so polite they don't want to appear unappreciative of her having them on her show, but you can tell it's frustrating for them.

Oprah is about Oprah. Very simple. Her interviewing style is terrible.

Oprah has always had an agenda. The interviews are just the vehicle for her to steer the guest and for her to say what she wants people to hear.

I agree mostly.... she is about herself..... however, I saw an interview she did with Willie Jessop who found the information to bring down Warren Jeffs.... and I found her to respect him enough to allow him to speak most of his points without interrupting....

I liked Oprah years ago but, after a while, she made everything about herself. She had experts on but always interrupted with her opinions. Don't ever watch anything she does now.
