Opinions please! Is this a good reason to NOT date someone?

On my 4th date with a man---in the course of our conversation, he said that he once "had a cat put to sleep because it kept "pea-ing" on the carpet." I was HORRIFIED!!! I have 5 cats and I think that's the most cruel-hearted thing I've ever heard of...... I don't believe there's any way I can continue dating this guy. I think he must be totally heartless.... Do you agree with me?

Yes and I would not date him. I have 5 cats too and this would horrify me as well. And further what vet does that? None that I've ever known. Disgusting. I've had cats that have done that and there's always a reason for it...and a way to help the cat if you keep trying.

Would I put a cat to sleep for that? NO.

But I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say...give him a chance. You might be able to teach him a lot about being an animal lover. Sometimes people just don't 'get it', and need to be shown the way.

But if he doesn't see the light soon, move on. He's too different from you.

Absolutely. I'd dump him in a heartbeat. Or, marry him and when HE becomes incontinent, well...

I hope he never got another animal after that.

Yes. I'd run for the hills. Did he even consider taking the cat to a vet to look for a medical problem first?

Thanks for these quick responses....you are validating what I thought, too. He actually has a small dog now....I find it odd that he talks about "owning" a dog. I would never think if myself as "owning" cats.....I think of them as my babies.
