Yet, I think it can also be disappointing when someone you really enjoy reading and posting with tells you too much and it turns out to be completely opposite of your own beliefs. I know people can be friends with someone with opposing beliefs but when it comes down to the basics I don't know.
Tells You too much how @truffle?
I don't mind opposing views but when it comes down to not liking someone in power because of an issue that happened several decades or even centuries ago then that doesn't make sense to me. My grandfather's issues may not be my issues today.
I'm going to stick my neck out on a limb and say that when a person can't debate the issue without bringing in dress sizes, what they eat, their kids, clothing choice, hairdos, bare arms and other things that don't matter then you've lost me.
@JaneMarple What I mean is when someone tells you their beliefs and they're really not open to debate. I really hate this trait about myself but certain topics that I have strong beliefs about (none that I can mention here) it is hard to enjoy that person anymore when I realize they have completely opposite feelings. I'm referring to political things that we can't openly talk about.
I understand your point @truffle and I used to be the same. My kids helped me to open my eyes to see people as individuals and really put myself in that person's shoes and to realize why they make/made the dicisions that they do/did. I totally believe in free will, no one has the right to force their beliefs on another person whether we agree or not.
@JaneMarple that is why I wish I could have had the chance to ask questions to a couple people that post on this forum but that chance is lost now which makes me feel very sad.

No politics and no religion, and we agreed to that when we signed on. Too many times people make comments and it's pretty obvious that they think their "opinions" are really "facts". Then the arguing starts.

I agree, this isn't a shopping forum. Not with games, movies, recipes, etc.
And on Chat, very little discussion is about shopping.
Totally agree with both of you. So easy to say "this is a shopping channel forum" but what does that mean? I see very little about any kind of shopping on many of the forums, but also agree with @VanSleepy that current events topics would quickly turn political. After political would come nasty. Even a seemingly innocent topic can turn a thread on its ear sometimes.
My long-winded way of saying--good posts!

You are right. I like to talk about politics but we've all seen what happens here when politics intervene, even the OP knows what happens.

I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or what
So I'll just say that yes, I agree with you :-)

THIS^^^^
The QVC forums is not a place that I rely on, or refer to, for any real news. I watch TV, listen to the radio and look at news sites - actual news, not faux news.
And by and large, I don't have any need to discuss actual news in detail to compare notes with what others think. What I think about real news is all that matters to me - I don't need to shout it from the rooftops or tell someone else they're wrong and I'm right.

Shopping forum ----- and even with good intentions of those who post the result has been UGLY. QVC has the right to control this forum. There are so many other places to post. Facebook is an example.

@JaneMarple wrote:Why in the world would anyone come to QVC or any other shopping board for news?
For some, it isn't the news per se - the actual news is secondary to wanting QVC's forums to be their personal Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park (google it, people) where they can march & carry picket signs and be heard, by golly - not to mention telling those who disagree with them exactly what they think of them, loud and clear. It's just the adrenaline, plain and simple, that some continually seek.

@Naturesbeauty wrote:If your interested in "political" forums or blogs. CNN, FoxNews, MSNBC, all have forums. They don't edit and everything is a go.......some good & bad discussions, so you have to be open minded to all the discussions and all the post. 😱
@DowntonAbbey wrote:there can not be a political forum? Or one on NEWS like URGENT NEWS...........all topics can go bad as we all know..........it just seems like Urgent News should be allowed as they monitor anyway.........
But the OP is only interested in political and current events forums where people exchange only kind remarks. Such places don't exist - here, or anywhere.
