It's not really a recipe, or anything like it, so that's wiy it's not in Kitchen or recipes, in case anyone needs to know. It's about taste buds.

But, getting a last look for grocery list this morning, I found four containers of half-onions.  So I took them out and put in a zip lock bag so HE can see.  He's the culprit in 3 out of the 4 of these.  So funny.

Asked him to get a bag of small onions instead, and he thinks they taste different.  I don't think so, but now I wonder if anyone notices any taste difference in large white onions or small white onions.  Who knows our taste buds could be different.

Do you notice a taste difference?

I haven't noticed a difference between onions related to their size. I've gotten some pretty strong, eye burning ones regardless of if they're big or small. Sometimes I even use frozen chopped onions to put in soup when I'm super busy. Someone in my family is on a diet & I make tons of Miracle Soup for him. The frozen onions & veggies I use are so convient & the soup tastes just as good as using fresh.

i generally buy the larger onions and the ones that are more sweet.....vidalias, oso sweets, maui sweets.

huge difference in taste and moisture compared to the smaller onions. i usually do not buy the smaller ones anymore unless i have no other choice.

Re: Onion and lock and lock

The difference in onion taste for me is the tyoe only, not the size.

Talking about onions...

Btw my "trick" for not making my eyes water while cutting is to not stand over the onion while cutting but rather a half step back.

Out of the way of their built-in protective sulfur emissions.

I noticed when i had gained a lot of weight it had been years since onions  made me cry. No lie. My distance and not being directly over yhe onion made the difference for me.
