Are you a cop? I doubt it. Walk a mile in their shoes and you'd run home crying like a baby.
Yes, some cops are bad, evil, people. So are some dentists, doctors, secretaries, salespeople, executives, servers, bartenders, and the list goes on.
Bad cops should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. I've cried and protested about bad cops who have hurt people.
But not all cops are bad. Most work very hard and care about people. They want to do the best they can for everyone.
I agree! I have a relative who was a former marine and then a police officer. On a domestic violence call, he was shot in the line of duty. He did survive but has a permanently injured hand and can no longer work.
We have a very good friend who's son was killed in the line of duty in 2021, answering yet another domestic violence call. He was months away from getting married.
These are just two of the countless first responders who look out for us! Although there are bad people in this world in every walk of life, there are clearly heroes and angels among us!

It's about time local authorities get tough on crime. Frankly, I'm sick of it.

G-d bless you for taking on this uber challenging career. You are, will be doing what I know, that I wouldnt be able to do.
And as I say to each Service Person, and Each Police Person I encounter.
"Please be safe. We need & are soo incredibly Grateful for yr Protection. Without you, our Society would be in big, big trouble!" You are the guards, that important Blue Line between us, & those who would do us harm, or have ill intentions!"
Please, be safe, & love to your loved ones, as you also give us your incredible protection! @SportyShorty07 ![]()

You indicated the officers' "superior," according to the the "one" that you were talking with, advised the officers to be careful in light of looking at someone the wrong way and being caught on film.
Reading your post, I understood you to be relaying what was told to you.
Of course, I am sure all the police officers you know are wonderful.
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha--are you trying to get this thread removed too? No need to always be so nasty.

I read an article that stated that police departments are short hundreds of cops in major cities and that women are underrepresented as new hires and useful in dealing with emotionally sensitive cases that involve domestic violence or child welfare.
Shoplifting is unfortunately widespread and its unnerving to walk into stores as a customer and see aisle after aisle locked behind protective walls. I think that the pandemic emboldened criminals even more because the COVID masks gave thieves a disguise so that they weren't easily identifiable on security cameras. I hope that I can get this career and make a difference, help others and keep the city safe.
Best wishes to you on this endeavor. You sound like a courageous, strong, and caring lady. We need more people like you.

It's true. Those flash mobs are gangs of organized thieves who sell those luxury goods on social media sites. It's not just Amazon. Mall cops and store security aren't meant to deal with organized crime. No one wants them putting the lives on the line for an $12 an hour job. The police gave real police work to do. They can't patrol luxury shopping areas and just hope that by luck, they bump into a smash and grab. The vast majority aren't violent and the stores are insured. It's a situation in which there are no losers. Even the luxury brands get free publicity. And they like that! It drives people to their own websites to shop. The stores and malls could do better job in terms of security but they choose not to. It's not my responsibility as a shopper to protect billionaire corporations.

@San Antonio Gal Thank you so much for your kind words
. My family is very proud of me and they are really excited about this new career journey in my life! I have my physical fitness test next Saturday and if I pass that its onto another round of interviews, forms and a background check before I'm placed into the academy. I'll pass that background check with flying colors. I'll keep you and everyone posted

It's sheer ignorance to say the merch is insured so no harm and no foul.
Yeah, these are good guys doing this....
We all pay. In one way or another.
And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if these *smart shoppers* aren't armed.
Just yesterday, a gun went off in King of Prussia (PA) mall. Accidently. They think the gun owner's gun accidently discharged and either he shot himself or his buddy. There was blood on the floor. But they ran. Don't know if they'll show up in a Philly area hospital or not....
