The Blu disposable is a great, inexpensive way to try it. There are a couple of other disposable brands out there, too. I've never tried them, but Walgreens carries at least 2 other brands that look more like an actual cigarette.
LOL... Then, no, you sure don't need to exchange one habit for another.

I quit smoking several years ago cold turkey for 3 years and the first 3 days I remember were rough but then I would wake up and forget about that first cigarette and I would use suckers or lollipops during the day.The problem is I gained 30 pounds so I went back to smoking. I would like to ask Dam Yankee a question about the E-cigs do you think if you replace them with regular cigarettes did it keep you from eating? I lost the weight because I wasn't snacking so do you notice the E-cigs keep you from snacking? This may be a good way to quit, have a quitting buddy with BrandonLee? Y'all have me kind of excited about doing this. I have tried the V2 E-cigs but they are not so great.

Hi Keekeedee! I did not gain an ounce when I switched to the e-cigs. I think it's a great idea for you and Brandonlee to be quitting buddies! Y'all can keep each other motivated. Maybe there are others that would like to join you both, too.
I've never tried the V2 e-cigs. Are those one of the other brands that are sold in stores? I only have experience with the Blu and Vapor4Life brands, but wookie posted a nice list of different companies to check out.
If you sign up for the email list at V4L.com, they will send you different coupon codes, nearly every day. A few of their sales are much better than others.
Best of luck to you! If you have an other questions, or if I can help in any way, just ask.

I quit cold turkey too. It was the hardest thing I ever did (Im not going to lie) What I did was change my habits. I used to smoke a lot while on the phone. I stayed off the phone or made short calls. Try to exercise or do hobbies. It is mind over matter. You have to keep yourself busy! You are already making progress so you can do it! Just stick with it. If you have one or some you will go back. Also get rid of all ash trays. lighters, and cigarettes you have laying around, and don't hang around other smokers. If you do tell them youre quitting and ask them nicely not to light up around you. I bit my nails..lol. and I still do but oh well that's better than smoking! I also gained weight when I quit but then lost it later. So what if you gain a few pounds its more important to quit. I wish you the best of luck. (And if you fall back once and cheat don't let it stop you from quitting, keep trying until you do it!)

Thanks for the support. People make you feel like you are a piece of trash if you get ""caught"" smoking now in public I know it's bad. I also know how easy it was to throw them away when the doctor said many years ago yes you're pregnant. Isn't that crazy. No shakes and no I gotta have one it was all about the baby so your mind set was no cigarettes. Then when I quit cold turkey not pregnant I had shakes.

Oh my gosh, if one person on this BB could quit smoking because of our recent discussions, what a triumph that would be!!
Keep trying BRANDONLEE!! If you have the will, and you seem to, you will be able to do this!!

I hear ya, Keekeedee! Be careful, though... Claiming to be the victim will cause you to be chastised by the resident self-appointed thread monitor.
Try an e-cig. That should seriously help take the edge off.

BRANDONLEE, hang in there! It will get easier, I promise, and congratulations to you so far. I know you can do it!

I wanted to add, my doctor told me years ago that drinking plenty of unsweetened pineapple juice everyday would help me out. I would drink huge amounts of the juice and lots of water, and it did seem to help.
Every time I felt overwhelmed with wanting a cigarette, I would start walking. I took very long and vigorous walks everyday. I had to. Believe it or not, I lost weight and did not gain any. I think it's the walking that may have helped me the most. I stayed as physically busy as I could, and as I stated already, I would drink a ton of pineapple juice and water.
