I would imagine this is also a significant cost saving tool. I would hate to pay QVC's phone bill for their 800#s and the testimonials add to it. The texting is shorter in duration and likely at the customer's expense. Very smart $$ move in addition to freeing up the lines!

I dont think HSN has done any phone testimonials in a very long time.

I don't like it. Just another reason for the hosts to have their phone with them and take up more time.
If the PTB didn't schedule eons of time on one item, the hosts wouldn't have time to waste.

I find the texts very distracting from the items being presented after watching them for a couple of days. We all know that they are selected prior to airing.

I find the new text thing on air very distracting.

I anticipate that the texts will replace the phone calls completely, eventually (except maybe for Kim's shows, where they seem to be a valuable component of programming.)
I bet the producers see sales igniting whenever one of Kim's customers comes on with a truelife testimonial!

I did notice that on last night's show with Shawn, she was able to immediately answer some good questions about the product being shown, by reading and answering texts.
This was really a good idea, as long as the host sticks to answering questions and doesn't start reading out non-pertinent texts.

@SactoSue That is how I see the evolution of the text messages in the shows. Your description of how Shawn was using it is how they do it on QVC's TikTok Shop.
They can read and respond to real-time posts about the products during the entire presentation. The hosts/influencers there answer questions, show specific item details over again when asked, double back to talk about certain options, testimonials of being happy with the product, etc.
Kim Gravel and Jane just did text testimonials and it went just like they've been going for the other shows/presentations. If QVC is going to commit to these, it's good that it's across all shows and genres.

I personally find it very distracting when the items are presented. Especially since I think the texts they read are already chosen before hand. Very deceiving.
