On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created.

Go to constitutionday . com to read this inspired document and about the 39 who signed it.

@ThinkingOutLoud   Thanks so much for posting this!  It was and is a remarkable achivement for its time.  It is a great leap and a firm foundation for a nation that continues to grow and adapt to the needs of the nation.

It is also good to remember the courage of the signers, and the ones who risk their own safety and wealth to support the effort.

No, not at all. Although it's unfortunate some have/are dismissing these principles, so much good has come from this vision. It has given hope to so many around the world and been used as a model for other countries. There's more I wish I could say but again, it was inspired for many good reasons!

This is what began the "Experiment."  Our Democracy is experimental.  The Founders had know way of knowing it would work.  We still don't know if it is successful.

The Founding Fathers had the forethought to add important aspects to our Constitution though.  The were concerned that as a Republic with a governing form of Democracy, that despotism could arise.  They were smart enough to put those checks and balances in place as well.  The Upper Chamber and the Lower Chamber that must work together for the good of the country.  They serve as the "check" for presidential power.  Think about what would happen if everything went awry all at once.

The Constitution is a Living Document which can be Amended, so that much is good.  It would give the Justices something "new to learn" if it is ever amended again.
