Today many are desperate to act, think and look younger.  They spend big, get facial procedures and spend thousands on anti-aging cosmetics and "youthful" clothes.

And in the end it's just mutton dressed as lamb and a lot of delusional and unhappy old geezers.

Old geezers? How ageist. If I had a dollar for every time you posted the mutton dressed as lamb...

Why be so judgemental about that? Live life the way you choose to and let them do the same.

@Sooner Well, aren't you a little ageist entitled nasty brat! We're living our lives, and if oyu're so eager to slam your mother's and grandmother's generation, I hope they're proud of who they raised and what you think of them.

Of you are fortunate enough to reach an older age, I hope you get a taste of your own medicine.

I have no idea how old you are and don't care. This was a very obtuse response. You stereotyping and insensitivity are out of line.

If you are lucky enough, you'll live to an old age.

@NigelSparkles Did you fail reading comprehension?  I said that previous generations weren't afraid to grow and look older.  In today's world many are terrified of it, and just waiting to criticize women who don't chase youth. I find it offensive that women are still judged by their "youth" or lack thereof.

Re: Older people more "current" nowadays

The majority of people I see on red carpet pictures and covers of magazines I have idea who they are or what they do.  On the other board just a few moments ago I had to have Luddite explained to me.  Thank goodness others did not know what the definition was either.  I thought it was something for your kitchen.

But I would imagine I am more current now than my own Grandmother was back in the 1980's.   I had to to explain to her that Cybil Shepard may have been pregnant on Moon Lighting with Bruce Willis but it was not his child in real life.  She thought it was.

Re: Older people more "current" nowadays

I think it depends on one's interests, life style, friends.

I haven't a clue about current TV shows, movies, actors, music etc. because they don't interest me.

When I was a child and teen I remember my grandparents were not "current" regarding modern pop culture.  For example they had never heard of any of the movies or TV shows or popular songs or singing groups of the day. I would talk about this and they were completely baffled.  But nowadays *quote* "older people" are not like this at all.  Do you find this to be true?

Re: Older people more "current" nowadays

@mormel20 Maybe they are and maybe they aren't...I don't know. We are all unique and different so naturally we will follow different paths of interests.

Don't most of us pursue and participate in what  our interests are or "our bent" is? I think that has always been the case with every generation.

People tend to pursue what gives them pleasure.

If that is not what gives you pleasure....it doesn't mean you are not current.  If something is not pleasing to me I tend not to care if I am current in it. While one generation may seem smarter than another....how content are they? While I don't think "current" is a bad thing, I see less and less contentment as time goes on. Truely, I would rather be content than current.
