our couch was always the davenport. My grandpa called a suitcase a grip, grandparents complained of rheumatism, someone they knew had apoplexy and flu or a bad cold was "the grippe"

@smoochy  I'm chuckling here.Woman LOL because there are still some very old Italians where I grew up that say so and so has the grip. They never say a cold or the flu. So funny to read your post. I grew up east coast.

I also heard the oldtimers call luggage a valise. As a inside joke with Hubs, I'll call our luggage a velise. It cracks him up.

Egad -  Yikes

Boob Tube - TV

Stories - Soap Operas

Frock - Dress

@smoochy Ah, fond memories.  My grandmother would talk about my grandad's rheumatism and her vertigo. She also used the word dysentery rather than diarrhea. So quaint!

@smoochy

I recall sitting on someone's davenport and I looked at the table next to it and what did I see?

Crochet doilies!

Anyone remember doilies?

@Tinkrbl44

I still use a few crochet doilies around my house that my mom made years ago.

@Queen of shop    My grandmother called a suitcase a valise. She called soap operas "crying women stories."
