I can't remember being 6 let alone know how "sensible" I was as a 6 year old. I can bet that's the case for the majority. The magical thinking astounds, but not really.

I easily remember aspects of my grade school years and can easily remember that I'd have known to ask permission before picking up the old phone and ordering something for which my parents would have to pay. The only magical thinking going on here is that some seem to think they wrote the book on child development and on what constitutes normal and acceptable behaviors when they didn't. Really.

@Spurt  Oh but it's not just parents anymore who feel their little kumquats can do no wrong. No indeed. There's a whole cadre out there who seem to feel accountability and responsibility are things of the past. Well, for some folks anyway.

Still trying to "bait" this into something not necessary @stevieb?

Not at all, just expressing my opinion on the topic of childhood responsibility and the point at which one can expect even minimal judgement in a child, @gertrudecloset, though perhaps that's your goal...

Yeah, sure.  Like you were going to do yesterday, right?  You're making blanket general statements about people you don't know.  You're trying to frame a narrative.  This was simple, funny (to me) human interest story that a few have become angry over.

SMDH @stevieb

As usual, @gertrudecloset , you're making assumptions about what is and is not in other posters' heads and when you do that look who's making blanket statements about people they don't know.  I'm not remotely angry about the story. I get it this was posted as 'humor'. I do, however, get to have an opinion when others are ready to excuse the behavior based on what they view as their superior knowledge and understanding, when clearly they have neither. People posited thoughts on who was ultimately responsible for the massive order and so I did to.

Oh, and don't be shaking it too hard.

I agree.  But it must be pontificated upon, narrative [insert here] about "others".  The father wasn't asking anyone for anything.  I think it made for a cute story and aids as a reminder to parents to keep their electronic devices child proof.

No, I know what I read yesterday.  You tried to make it about certain "classes of people."  And just so you know, I will "shake" what I want.  Not much YOU can do about that.  I wanted to jump in and ask you to knock it off.  I had your post removed yesterday because of your baiting.

You come off as being a miserable person.  This story wasn't that deep, but of course there's always the but...but...but....but......and the otherism that comes from you and many others of your ilk @stevieb

Oh brother... When you had my post removed, you had others removed and honestly, is is that big a deal to you? If so, maybe that's worth some thought. I don't believe I come off as a miserable person, but if I do, to you, so be it. You see, your opinion of me is of very, very little importance. I won't indicate the sort of person you strike me as being because it serves no purpose. A couple of final thoughts: when you put a post out there you need to be prepared for multiple kinds of response. You can whine about and 'report' the ones you don't like all you want but ultimately you can't control them. Finally, shake at will, why would I care, but just be sure you don't shake anything loose.
