Most apps/websites have a condition stated that the person must be 18 yrs or older to make a purchase its part of their customer legal requirements...🤔

Read the USING GRUBHUB USERS AGREEMENT.....if under 18 must be DIRECTLY SUPERVISED by the parents ...which this kid was not if the parents were at the movies and wasn't supervised by a babysitter...🙄 And Grubhub can block someone abusing their system

sounds like Gubhub wanted the publicity and so did the parents...🙄😒

Yep everything wants you to sign your life away and "Agree to the Terms and Conditions before you can do anything @Spurt .  That's not the issue.

If the man has the app on his phone he's already agreed to the Terms and Conditions for using the App.  You don't have to do that every time you place an order.  Do you use phone apps?  I don't too much, but I know how my banking app works.

You don't have go through the mess everytime you want to use the app.  It happens upon "account set up.

And I thought I wasn't techy.....

BTW you sound jealous it wasn't you.

It’s pretty easy to order without a bunch of log-ins and passwords depending on how you’ve setup each app: once you’ve logged into the phone itself.

I don't understand why everyone is so confused by this, and I don't even use "apps."

From an article I read today - the kid took his father's phone off the kitchen counter and went down to the basement (only the mother was at the movies); father thought he was playing games on the phone until food started arriving.

@debfau

My point was the kid ordered without parental approval and adult supervision so according to Grubhub's own terms of agreement Grubhub was on the hook

Grubhub should be on the hook, the dad should be on the hook and even though I'm sure I'll get the 'brain isn't formed yet' mantra some use to excuse virtually anything done by children, the kid is on the hook too. At six, I'd have known this was not the way to go. Even at six, raised by sensible parents, and maybe that's an issue too, you have some degree of common sense.

Grubhub's agreement is downright stupid and legally they put themselves in jeopardy. BUT yes, you're right....it should be the parents and the kid that should be responsible!!!! But in this age of "victimless events " (kinda like it's okay to loot stores and walk off scot free with the merchandise without any consequences for the looters, but we consumers end up paying in the form of higher prices.....🙄)...BOTH RESPONSIBILITY AND COMMON SENSE ARE NO LONGER IN PLACE IN TODAY'S WORLD  And yes parental position is my "little darling" can do no wrong 🙄

Little Mason was hungry, is all!  THANK GOD THE WORLD IS STILL TURNING.

His father, Keith Stonehouse, was not aware his son was ordering the food and at first did nt understand why delivery people kept ringing his doorbell and leaving food.

Once again, fairly obvious that some have never been around or had relationships with children.

I can't remember being 6 let alone know how "sensible" I was as a 6 year old. I can bet that's the case for the majority. The magical thinking astounds, but not really.

@Spurt  Oh but it's not just parents anymore who feel their little kumquats can do no wrong. No indeed. There's a whole cadre out there who seem to feel accountability and responsibility are things of the past. Well, for some folks anyway.
