Obtaining court transcripts

Does anyone know how to obtain a court proceeding transcript?

It occurred in 2012, and I have the location of where and the court case number.

It is in another state, so can't just go there and view it. I spent a lot of time researching how, going to numerous websites in the state, and can't figure out how to do it.

I believe these are considered public records. It is not a case that I think would be sealed for any reason.

We are being given totally conflicting reports of what happened. Would like to know the truth!
