I always chuckle when someone writes about Shawn being real.

@Etoile308  - Does real mean things like wiping one's nose or not-so-clean hair?

@Desert Lily I think we all make assumptions based on the data we receive from others and about others.  You see a person in dirty boots and a hard hat out at 9 a.m. and you assume he isn't a bank teller that day.

You see a fire fighter in uniform climbing on the fire truck and you don't wonder if he is a fashion designer.

We make assumptions to be able to go outside the house.

@Sooner  I'm not referring to educated guesses or inferences from facts or inferences in reading, etc.

I'm referring to people making assumptions about people they see on air or online that they have no personal connection to, no personal knowledge of, and zero knowledge of circumstances.

It's all conjecture.

@skatting44 Very telling about the people that watch QVC.  You can guess which audience these three appeal to.  I rarely see any QVC, but other than these three, several of the hosts seem to be not very educated on the items they are selling or much of anything for a few.

I think QVC is putting the emphasis on demographics and youth for the hosts, not on interesting people who know a lot about the world and are more intellectual.  And that's saying a lot. . . but some of the new ones in recent past have simply seemed to be lacking in education and have made some really bizarre blunders.

I have to disagree about Shawn being educated on the products she's selling.  She is often not prepared.  She barely knew how to use the DynaTrap, suggesting we put one on our table.  The vendor had to correct her, saying you wanted to put them away from where you spent your time.  I've also seen makeup vendors correct her for advice she was giving on how to use an item.

As far as seeing the same hosts all the time.... We would not like it if our bosses told us we had to change hours. It's the same for hosts. Some probably have regular hours and others may not.

If a host is rude, obnoxious, or tells more than 1 personal story, I turn the channel. Thus, I'm not watching much Q these days.

@Desert Lily What isn't?  We all judge, we all make assumptions from what we see and know.  It's how we live and socialize and stay safe.  We size up the world every time we go out or watch it on a screen.
