I buy steel cut oatmeal in bulk.  It's much less expensive that way.  I eat it a few times a week usually plain, no sugar, no milk. Sometimes I will add some cinnamon.

I also buy flat oatmeal for making cookies or baking with.  Occasionally my husband will eat a bowl.

Oatmeal is a staple in my diet.  I don't eat wheat, rye or barley and try not to eat too much rice.

I like quick oats. Instant oatmeal is like eating cardboard. I am never hungry in the morning, though
Just the thought of eating makes me gag.
When I do have my oatmeal, though, I like it with butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar. No milk.

@occasionalrain   I like to have organic oats with some butter melted on top with a little pure maple syrup or honey, sometimes a splash of milk and maybe some raisens or chopped walnuts with a side of toast ❤️

this post brings back such good memories.

we ate oatmeal often when I was a kid, but only with butter, sugar and milk.

40 years ago when I was postpartum my mother-in-law came to stay with us for a week. I was breast feeding and completely famished 24 hours a day and having all kinds of cravings.

one day I was craving oatmeal and she made some for me with lots of butter, brown sugar, evaporated milk and sliced bananas. I had never eaten oatmeal like that before and I still remember it as the best tasting oatmeal I've ever had.

Been pretty cold  and ordered a large bag of steel cut oatmeal ,true it takes longer to cook but mine might be the longest ,as I make a big batch in my slow cooker.

I recently started adding my Andrew Lessman Secure Powder in pina colada or vanilla, might try my chocolate Secure soon . Oh it has become my favorite way of eating the steel oats oatmeal.I use 8 cups of water and 1 cup of half and half, 2 cups of the steel cut oats, and about 5 scoops of the Secure, a small amount of coconut syrup or maple syrup, good sprinkle of cinnamon, cook about 6-8 hours on low.

Serve with a splash of oatmilk to reheat in microwave or stove.

Find myself even having it for dinner some nights,so satisfying and to me it is like DESERT more so then just oats.

I like a little brown sugar and cinnamon or maple syrup.

I always mix in a tablespoon of flax seeds, for a little extra fiber.
