I hope by now, you've kept the cut skin and moved it to where it was separated from. I'd keep it covered with the bandage for a few days to keep it clean, give it a chance to adhere again to where it needs to be. Sounds like it was a good cut. Those hurt like heck.

So that would be a ‘sweet’ potato nursing me?

I don't know you're the potato lady.
Do take care! @sidsmom

@GusMo wrote:Actually, hydrogen peroxide is not recommended for wound care anymore. It can damage tissue. I’m a nurse practitioner and would recommend cleaning with soap and water once a day and put a bulky bandage on it for a few days. Be careful with Neosporin, some people have a local reaction. We use Bracitracin. Good luck! I sliced off a good chunk of my pinky with a mandolin a few years ago, so,I feel your pain!
@GusMo .... My surgeon's office told me to use Hydrogen Peroxide on the wound every day. That was just two month's ago. It has always been my go-to anyway.

@sidsmom It gives me the willies thinking about your cut! By the way, Band-Aid has a product that's water-proof and fits over the finger tip. If I could, I'd go to the store and pick them up for you.

@ValuSkr Yes! I used something like this when I bandaged it up
yesterday before I went to cycle class. Don’t know if it was the
sweat or pressure of riding in dropped bars, but when I was washing
my hands afterwards, the bandage fell off & revealed...
some yellow stuff (finger fat?) slightly bulging out!
It was kinda gaping at this point. Seriously...I had to sit down!
I’m a baby with this stuff...got woozy!
That’s it...I drove over to my local Primacare.
I don’t want things falling out. The doctor said if I had gone in on Sunday,
I would’ve gotten at least 1or2 stitches. 24 hrs later the best she
could was to apply a butterfly (?) bandage & give me
a tetanus shot (which I was due). She gave me a handful of her
plastic gloves & sent me on my way.
Thinking of getting one of those kitchen gloves which
prevents scrapes/minor cuts.
