How do you 'mow' leaves?

@Mindy D  I'm no expert but I helped DH over the weekend.  It's a huge job!

We had a lot of leaves on our patio so I raked them together and he mowed them into a fine much and picked them up with the attached bag.

On the lawn he mows the leaves so they stay on the lawn when they are mulched into a fine powder which is supposed to be good for the soil & lawn.

It was very windy here a few days ago and all of the leaves are finally down.

I leave the leaves where they fall until late Spring because insects lay their eggs in them. In Spring, they hatch and are needed food for birds. Haven't you noticed the Robins picking through the leaves searching for worms and insects when they arrive in Spring ?

@jlkz

holy moly! When I had my Craftsman mower the engine was covered and most of the dust was behind the mower. The Zero Turn was when I decided to wear a mask and the goggles. Never knew about any poison ivy dust danger. If we have any, I have walked about every step on our acreage and never ran into any of it.

I can see why that would scare the he!! out of anybody. Hopefully he doesn't have any permanent damage from that fiasco.

Those dry maple leaves are bad enough when it comes to the dust, I sure don't want anything like that to happen. I have spent enough time in hospitals as it is already.

Thanks for that info and hopefully that doesn't happen again to your husband.

A few minutes ago, the sun came out and now it's cloudy and snowing here in east central Pa. My neighbor is out mowing leaves. Good grief.

I resemble that remark. Smiley Happy  I have a number of huge trees and mulch before raking.  I think I've mulched a dozen times this fall.  I love working in the yard and will do it anytime I can.

Texas is famous for its changing weather...as we say, it’s flip-flops to fur coats in less than a day many times!
