Hello ladies! You were all so helpful about my buying on eBay the other day so I went ahead and made the purchase. This was on the 21st. Today DH informs me that our c.c. Company sent us a new card ( we didn't request it, and usually if there is a problem they will call to verify before sending out new cards) so he activated it. Well, that automatically closed the old card. The purchase I made from eBay doesn't look like its shipped. Am I correct in saying that PayPal doesn't release the funds to the seller until he/she verify they have shipped the item? When I look in my PayPal account it looks like the have sent the money already. I emailed the seller to ask that he/she allow me to cancel the order if it has not yet shipped, if it has then the payment have been received and I can wait for my item to arrive in the mail soon. There has been no response from the seller or any markings on eBay to say this is even on the process of shipping. When do sellers actually receive the funds? If I wait for my c.c. Statement it would be too late to put in a dispute. So, what do you think? Thanks for any help with this question...

Call PayPal to get your payment information straightened out. They should also be able to explain if and when the funds for your purchase were released.

Your old CC shouldn't have closed unless there was a question of theft on it because of pending charges and credits. You should be fine; I wouldn't muddy the waters. The seller will think you're trying to renege on the deal. You'll have PayPal totally confused. You can't make these last-minute switches when using computer systems, in this case two plus your bank.
Why would you dispute? You're the one making the mess. A dispute infers someone did something wrong. This is a simple transaction and you are making it complicated.

It's easy to update your banking and credit card information on Paypal. Calling Paypal will allow you to confirm that the sale went through .... or if you need to have them process with the new card you've just added.

Paypal does not wait until shipment has been made to release the payment. You should be able to go on line and check your charge account to see if your payment went through.
You have possibly confused the issue with the seller asking if you can cancel the order.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Looks like I am making a big deal , but this is my first "problem" using eBay & PayPal and didn't want the seller to think I was a poor buyer when the payment wouldn't go through... I kinda panicked since it may be going in the mail on Monday(today). I actually hope this transaction has already gone through because I really want the item
I do not want this seller to think I was trying to renege at all.

Kachina is spot on. Whatever you do don't file a dispute since the seller did absolutely nothing wrong.

I understand now. Thanks all of you for the help.

@cactusjackI assume you've communicated with your credit card company - that's a weird procedure for cancelling/changing a card. What's up with that?
Assuming everything with your card is right, they will take care of your past purchases - that should not be a problem, but you will have to desal with changes for the future.

Nothing weird about it. Everyone who has credit cards periodically gets a new one with an updated expiration date and has to activate it which automatically cancels the previous one. If the new card has the same account number it is the same card.
Recently, we have all been getting new credit cards, same account number, with the chip meant to increase security.
What I want to know is, why come here to ask after instead of before you have made the mess of the situation.
