Re: Not Sure How To Word This

Why is that any of your business. If someone wishes to start a thread, it is their right.

Re: Not Sure How To Word This

Just a personal preference, but I read short threads to the end, and usually don't go farther than a couple pages with long threads, especially in this sort of situation. She will be SORELY missed.

I don't think it bothers people per se ..but I know for myself when you get a scanning list of top forum subjects and they are all the same topic ..it is frustrating.

It is like everybody tries to rush and be the first one to post..and then they don't look and notice 15 topics already.

Just on Fashion about ten topics are about Joan...I get the RIP and Memorial ones but ""what was your first piece of JR jewelry"" lol..that cracked me up...sometimes reading all of these forums I think somebody works for Family Feud looking for the top FOUR answers on the board LOL!!

The questions asked are ridiculous sometimes.

So interesting of you to post- I thought that particular thread was charming.

Re: Not Sure How To Word This

Some celebrities elicit more emotion in people than others. Sometimes here, people post the same breaking news at the same time. I don't see what the problem is.

Normally what happens is that one thread will begin to get more responses and the others just drop further down the page and sort of disappear. I've posted on different threads about the same subjects because a poster makes what I consider to be an interesting comment and I'd like to respond or agree with it. Again, what's the problem?

Maybe we should hold a lottery and choose numbers, ranging either high to low or low to high, designating a different poster daily to be the one who gets to start new threads about breaking news. There will be consequences if you go out of turn. lol

BTW, Preds, that really was a beautiful sentiment.

I get what the OP is saying but it won't work. You have to let stuff like this run its course.

I see several of the threads from yesterday have been deleted. Thank goodness.

Re: Not Sure How To Word This

Two things - Of course, the first couple of threads were started at the exact same time, so it's understandable.

Beyond that, this is something that seems unique to this board - starting multiple threads about the same exact thing. Other boards will either delete or combine, but this board doesn't do that.

This board seems to be partially populated with a lot of people who have not been on the internet long and haven't realized the basic rules of etiquette. Just look at all the people who will type in all bolded or all caps, or spoil shows/movies in non-spoiler threads. That's just internet etiquette 101 stuff. It's rude, it's yelling, and it hurts some of our eyes (it is like burning a laser through mine!). But when it's brought up you are basically given the finger and told that you can just go away if you don't like it. So, it's ok to be really rude and if you don't like it, tough noogies.

It's just one of those things about this board that, I guess, if we don't like it we can move on. If there weren't a lot of people I've met here over some ten years I've been here, I would definitely move on and, like others here, I often take a vacation from this board.

Re: Not Sure How To Word This

chickenbutt, I agree with you and I'll add that I think sometimes it's more about who starts a thread as to which posters post there. That goes back to history I've long ago given up trying to understand, because some of it is so contentious that a simple statement will end up getting a thread poofed!

I post equally, wherever I find something interesting. I do avoid some threads because they never end well.

I agree!

As far as my thoughts on OP, I understand what she was trying to say. All these posts about JR are redundant and clog up the forum. (And honestly, some of them border on a strange level of morbidness.)

However, I realize that all posters have a right to start any number of threads that they please, regardless of whether there are already 65 threads that exist about the exact same thing.

Re: Not Sure How To Word This

Many of us are still in shock over Joan's sudden death and want to express their feelings but to start arguing about where and how to post is way out of line and disrespectful. Let her rest in peace.
