It is still one of my favorite destinations to shop for clothing and makeup. However, they have recently partnered with or outsourced the purchase of gift cards and it's a mess.
I called them 4 times and each time I got a different answer about a gift card I knew I had coming. The so called third party company never sent it to me. I got a bit of a run around and told them this was despicable. I expect excellent customer service from them. Having done business with them for years, (years) I was so annoyed at the different answers I was getting about the whereabout of the link to activate my gift card. They kept confusing me with the purchaser (my sister). I told them that I was the recipient and that my sister sent me the confirmation information which includes the order number and they never sent me a link.
All is squared away now though. I guess even a good company can go downhill when they outsource their services.

I'm a bit confused. Whenever I rceive or send an E gift card, including from Nordstrom or Walmart the information for activation/usage is always on the email they/I receive. Does the Nordstrom provider do things differently? Would be good to know with the holidays coming. Thanks

They have outsourced the purchase and administration to a third party. A company that will manage their cards. So when you now go to purchase a gift card at Nordstrom's you are actually being sent to this third party company. It's got to be new. I have been buying and receiving gift cards from Nordstrom's for ions.
The third party organization was supposed to send me a link to click into to activate the card. I had to go calling around and the folks at Nordstrom had no way to help me @mspatmac

I've also been a Nortdstrom customer for years and years and I have found that overall over the years it has become a shadow of its former self. I felt the demise started when the "next" generation took over the running of the company.

That's disappointing but thank you for the information. I'll think twice about sending from Nordstrom but my granddaughter would be most disappointed. I don't like to send gift cards through the mail especially from third party suppliers.

Things seem to be falling apart everywhere the young people are running things. I think this is the problem: The older generation has always been about customer service and fixing problems. The younger generation is about just saying no if something needs to be fixed. My generation (older) does not do things that way or like it when things are done that way.
I had a fabulous experience at Nordstrom's a couple of years ago. I bought a handbag that was on sale. I paid by check. The salesperson said I coud join their new club that kept track of cash purchases so you could receive a $20;00 gift card after a certain amount of purchases. All I would have to do is respond to a text massage on my (very old) cell phone. The problem was that my cell phone did not text and neither did I. We called customer service and there was no other way to enter the program. I mentioned that they were leaving a lot of customers out of this program and that it was a little discriminatory. Two minutes later the Customer Service Manager came to the register to meet with me. Her solution to the problem was to give me a gift card from the store in the amount of my on sale handbag so that I paid nothing for it. I was very happy with that solution. The Customer Service Manager was not a young girl. She knew how to solve problems and make customers happy and she knew there was a problem with their new program.

Thanks for the FYI. I appreciate an FYI so that I can avoid that mess .
I do love Nordstroms and that are several within the areas that I shop.

@mspatmacIt was an E-Gift card! They are supposed to be safer. Since Nordstrom has outsourced the handling of their store gift cards it's a hot mess. I'm not even going to try and purchase one from the third party company that wouldn't send me the link for the E-Gift one. They couldn't get that part right! LOL.

@RealtyGal2 , I was talking to an older saleswoman a few years ago. Pre covid. I can't remember exactly what the issue was now but it was having to do with the newer changes. She said as a result of the changes she'd lost many older customers; they will no longer shop with Nordstrom.
I understand they have to stay up with the times, keep current and try to reel in the younger customers, but in the shuffle they have pushed aside many of their older, established, faithful customers.

@mspatmac I know it's all messy. My sister sent as a "delayed" delivery. I think that's part of the problem. She purchased it on the 9/20 for me to receive on 9/24. The only information I had was the information she forwarded me. So, by the 24th (today) I'm not seeing anything on how to get to the E gift card. No emails no nothing. I'm making several calls and getting nowhere.
Finally, speak to someone in the department (that out sourced company) who was able to send me the proper link. I let the CS rep at Nordstrom know how such a bad idea it was for them to outsource this and have their customers running around like a chicken with their heads cut off.
I knew the confirmation # and how my sis paid because she sent me the email. I knew it was to be available for me today. So, when I logged on to email nothing, nada.....
Crazy right? They are going to be sorry they did this if the outsourced company can't get their acts together.
