Both are very deserving of this honor. I'm still amazed that Malala not only survived that brutal attack, but is thriving. She has a very bright future ahead of her.

Malala especially advocates for the equality and education of young girls and women, which is a real problem in so many countries. They apparently considered her for the prize last year, but since she was only 16, they thought maybe she was too young. So now that she's 17, they felt they could give it to her! She is so well-spoken for a 17 year old young girl.

And yes, many fought and died for the privileges that we have, but a lot of that was a long time ago, and nowadays most people are too busy and don't give it a thought when they send their children off to school. That doesn't mean they don't appreciate the fact when they do think about it, but the families in those countries have to face the problems every day.

God bless him and Malala, both so worthy of this award!

I read that they asked the PMs of Pakistan and India to be at the ceremony - arch enemies. maybe they can help advance peace in that region.

OSLO, Norway — Children's rights activists Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Friday.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee cited the two "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."

Congratulations!

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup} Malala is so very special. To hear her speak brings tears to my eyes. What a brave and strong young lady. She really deserves this award!!

Wow, some winners that weren't purely political.
