Feather beds? Makes my many times disc ruptured back hurt just reading the words. If there is a worse thing for most to keep a healthy back, I haven't a clue what it might be.

Just think how the little birdies feel---those downey feathers don't just fall off and get collected.

So that I don't have to clean our featherbeds I keep multiple covers on them. Three. And then sheets. On top of one of the featherbeds I stretch a quilted mattress pad and cover. I occasionally air them out. If you keep them sufficiently protected you shouldn't have to clean them anymore than you would a mattress.

I have used a featherbed all my life. My father was from Germany and we always had one!

I just noticed that QVC doesn't sell them any more.

I need one for a too hard spare bed...I saw that they are available at Macy's and Overstock.

I wonder why QVC stopped carrying them ? or are they a seasonal product?

Anyone know...

A feather bed is basically a thick mattress pad ... correct?    I think over the years people got more particular about having something that was easy to clean.   Those feather beds can build up a whole lot of years' worth of dust mites and even bed bugs!

I love my featherbed and wash it in an extra large commercial machine once a year. It's a pain to dry, but being real feathers it's worth it. I got my last one at Overstock and the Company Store has the real ones.

I see the down alternative featherbeds at retail but not the down any longer. Mine is 6 inches thick and totally awesome.

I love my featherbed from Northen Nights. I use the Dyson mattress attachment and the Haans mattress attachment to clean it. I bought two extra "featherbed covers" at the time I bought the featherbed, which came with the featherbed.

My famly and friends that have slept in my bed have all called it the same thing... The Cloud...

Would you believe I just received an e-mail from HSN.  Monday's special is a feather bed.  I think it's around $90.
