Do your children and or grandchildren write cursive? My daughter informed me there is no more cursive for my youngest granddaughter. Say WHAT? You have to sign your name on various papers. Not only that, I believe cursive teaches motor skills. My older granddaughters are teens and they know cursive. Well anyway my daughter is teaching the youngest cursive herself, because my daughter thinks its ridiculous they dumped cursive and I agree.
To add my older grandkids who are teens, are A students because I note when they were little there wasn't as much focus on computers as there is now so they were reading books and writing and drawing. My youngest granddaughter is more in the computer days so she had more trouble learning to read then the older ones. Anyway the schools push computer use. (My 2 teen granddaughters homework is mostly done via the net through signing in from home to the school website). Well my daughter limits all of their computer time now, (only to use for homework) and it is helping the youngest who is now up to par.
I just think technology is fine, but kids should learn old school ways of doing things too. If not, one day we will have a bunch of zombies.
